Lift kits for Chevy trucks
Does anyone here have a lifted Chevy truck? Preferably a 03 or newer. I ask because I'm thinking of installing a 4" lift one on my 04 and wondering about the different makes, and if you have had any problems.

I know that this is not going to make the lifted truck fans happy but I could care less. How about leaving the truck at the stock ride height?
We have a problem where I live because we often have lifted trucks involved in an accident with a car and many time it kills everyone on board the car because the bumper on the truck is now right at the same height as their heads. Vehicles have bumpers and side impact bars in the doors to protect them. When the truck is lifted it puts their bumper above these protective devices and exposes the cars occupants to a dangerous situation everytime they drive. We see them all over our area and there is a group that is trying to get a bill passed in Arizona to make all modified trucks have a bumper that extends down to 2 feet above the pavement. After all, when these "lifted trucks" hit any vehicle it about rips the roof off of the car and there is no way the passengers in the other vehicle can survive. When we have two sets of roads, one for normal passenger cars and one for lifted trucks, you can do what you wish. When you start doing modifications that put myself and my family in danger, then that changes things. I do not want to ban the trucks but if you are going to make changes like this, also make changes that protect the rest of us. Remember... the car you have a collision with could have a friend of yours or family member riding in it. Flak vest is on now... Joe A

Not to mention what happens to the lateral stability of a raised vehicle. NEver understood the fad myself.

as a previous fan of lifted trucks, i gotta agree with joe. the only benefit, is ground clearance. stack that with the cons, and the list gets one sided quickly. i would leave it alone. especially, if there is no off road stuff planned.

4" is pretty high. my pops has a 01 z71 that he put add-a-leafs picking up rear an 1 or so, and lifted the front about 1.5" by torsions bar adjustment. it looks perfect after a front alignment, not fall guy high, but a little tougher than stock. i plan on following suit with my new truck, after exhaust.
i may do the front prior to the add-a-leafs just because the gm 4x trucks just sit a little too low up front imo. i am too old for a lift kit or roll bars on my truck. what i need is a comfortable seat.
