I caught that chase scene on TV last night - still good.

Would a shot gun blast from 10-15 feet away only crack the windshield?

Can a Mustang really dodge bullets?;)

The real question is, Can a Dodge dodge a Bullitt?

I think the hubcaps flew off of the Dodge Challenger about 3 times during that chase. The hitmen must have stopped and put them back on... just after they passed that green VW for the 5th time.

'68 Charger R/T (B-body)

Challenger wasn't introduced untill 1970--(E-body)--same as the Plymouth 'Cuda:)

Absolutely one of the best chase scenes - - it was one of the originals. No dialogue needed, just the sexy sounds of the motors of the Mustang and the Dodge. (I believe it was a Charger, not a Challenger) And the angles the sequences were filmed in really added some great feeling to the shots.

Sure, they filmed the same shot from multiple angles (Hince the green Beetle repeats & various other repeated segments) Truthfully, I'd rather have that in a movie than some one-dimensional CGI that is obviously fake. Speaking of CGI, Check this out! (Right click, save as).

BTW: here are some other chase scenes I think are top notch:

- The chase scene in the original Italian Job
- The final chase scene in Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
- The chase scenes in Ronin
- The rental car race in Days of Thunder
- LeMans (Pratically the whole movie!)
- Most of the race scenes in the Herbie the Love Bug movies
- The chase scene in the second Matrix movie
- The Audi TT / 996 Cabrio 'tango' in Mission Impossible II
- Some of the scenes from Vanishing Point
- Mad Max
- Forget the Cannonball flicks, the original, Gumball Rally was the best!
- The Car Deathrace 2000 & The Wraith (Ok, I'm a sucker for B-flicks!)

If anyone is interested, there was a great article on Steve McQueen in the June issue of Playboy, from 1971. Actually, it's about the filming of 'Le mans'.
How do I know? I was born in June of '71, and just bought that issue of Playboy on Ebay!

Cheers,

Paul.

If you have a netflix account, (or maybe if you don't) go here: http://www.netflix.com/Default Do a search on 'Bullitt' and watch the preview. Couple of good scenes from the chases.

Cheers,

Paul.

There's also an interesting albeit brief chase scene in Against All Odds. My vote: The Bullitt chase scene is the best ever. Sure, Ronin is good. None better than Bullitt. Regardless of the technical flaws.
