I found a cheap place for CR123a batteries
If you use a flashlight like a Surefire, they take the lithium CR123a batteries which can cost up to $5 each. This place Botach.com sells them for about $1 each if you buy 20. They have lots of other military tactical stuff as well, but the batteries are branded as Sanyo, and seem to last as well as any others. By the way, a 3 cell Surefire flashlight will put out several times more light than a 4D Maglite with or without the halogen bulb. With a 10 year shelf life, I find this to be the perfect flashlight for a car. No affiliation to Surefire or Botach, just wanted to pass on what I consider a good price.

Oh joy... Botach tactical....
I've never dealt with them, but have heard many stories at my other favorite board. They commonly list items on their site that they do not have stock of. They do not let you know, and do not give you an ETA on items... And aren't too repsonsive on the phone... IIRC...

Oh, and for a nice, inexpensive BRIGHT flashlight, check out Dorcy. Their 'Spyder' is a two cell lithium battery xenon bulb light. It's as bright as two cell Surefires. The beam isn't as focused or controllable, but it's damn bright. I picked up one at Lowe's for $20.
I plan on getting a couple more, a couple for the house, and one for each car. It is MUCH brighter than my 3xD cell Maglite.
