Where to stay in Vegas?

I'm taking a very special girl to Vegas in September and want to stay in a great place. Is the Wynn all that? Any recommendations? I would like to see a good magician, any thoughts? And Tabs, I don't need a buffet.

Venetian is a sure bet or any of the suites at the Bellagio (Penthouse Suite or Villa One - if you can ever find someone to confirm that Villa One exists) . For a more relaxed experience you can try the Four Seasons (Presidential suite or 180 degrees Strip View Suite) or the new The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. Never slept at the Wynn yet.

If you are a Cirque du Soleil fan I will recommend not to miss O (Bellagio) and/or KA (MGM). Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo is a very good magician show.

Let me know if you need a pickup at the airport or anything else while in Las Vegas.. on a second thought I don't think that the turbo will be the appropiate ride for you and the special girl

I'm going in late Sept (28th on) again - the Aladdin was great, highly favored. You have to do the Belagio Buffet - I actually gained 7lbs in two days doing the buff scene. I have no will power.

I know you said no to a buffet, but I'm telling you, it is really something to do just once, maybe twice if she is up for it...

So you're going for a show then? If not, and you're not a gambler, then Vegas sucks. Go to Phoenix, the resorts there blow doors on Vegas and are much more affordable. JW Marriott resorts - great spa's, great food, great pools, same climate without all the jackasses Vegas attracts.

I think the Bellagio is nicer than the Venetian, but the Venetian has bigger rooms. Lance Burton is a good show, and he used to come out afterwards to meet people at the magic shop. He's a nice guy, reminds me of Brent Spiner (Data on Star Trek).

The daddy show is "O," no question. If you stayed at the Bellagio or other Wynn hotels, you could book shows before the general public. Since Wynn sold it, I don't know what the deal is. I stayed there and wound up with front row seats. Then the clown pulled me onstage for some fun... it was great!

I think "O" would be more romantic than Lance Burton, or do both. There's a new Cirque there too, but I don't know much about it.

Jordi - maybe 12 years ago!

Actually, I think it would be pretty cool to hook up - maybe we could convince TABS and Flintstone and a few others to all get together for a "Pelican Summit" at some bar or something. I have to stay out of the cat houses, my wife has a really bad sense of humor when I drop a few hundred for a "Happy Meal".

I have to speak at the PACK EXPO on the 26th but will have a few days after to get into trouble.

If you stayed at the Bellagio or other Wynn hotels,
MGM owns all of wynns old hotels( except for the Golden Nugget).

Wynn only owns one now, "WYNN".

Mike, just let me know .. you don't know when you may need a bail in this town :-). I have been visiting Las Vegas at least once a year since '81, and we moved a little bit over a year ago, great town to live and raise kids.

The get-together is a great idea, but I will recommend to stay away from 'cat-houses', plenty of 'clean' fun in this town too.. bring one of your books for me..

Lots of good ideas, We're going to see Alejandro Fernandez. Looks like I'll book some tickets well in advance for "O" and Lance Martin. The hotel is still up in the air but since the Bellagio is the only 5 star it may be the way to go. Anyone have anything to say about the JM Marriot?

Mandalay Bay has the best pool in Vegas since it will still be hot in Sept. Nice hotel, wave pool, lazy river pool and "European" pool (topless) if you and the lady are into that. As far as magic goes, you can't beat Lance Burton and the price is right.

Paul, the JW Marriott is in Summerlinn and kind of far away from The Strip, plus commute is bad due to construction, great hotel and facilities, if JW is your 'kind' of hotel I will give the Four Seasons a try.

Alejandro will be performing at the Caesars Colosseum

the show is called "O" because that is what your mouth forms. it is that good. get the tickets now, online. so you can walk past the poor suckers in the ticket line. i tend to get cheaper hotels, because you only sleep, "and stuff" there. money is better spent on the outside. buffets are goddamn dangerous. i spent more time at that vodka bar, RED SQUARE. get the sampler platter.

Obviously the 'real' story behind O is that "O" is the phonetic sound of "eau" (french for water), Cirque du Soleil are originaly French Canadians.

But I like vash's explanation better!!

Get tickets online, KA is as good as O, different style but REALLY good too.

Zumanity, good show, different but good, I have see it only once.

I will say that Cirque du Soleil meets a classy go-go girl Las Vegas show.
