Finding Work From Home Jobs?
Anybody know how to go about this? My wife has worked from home for several years now as an accountant (PA, not a CPA yet), but the place she works for is figuratively falling apart around her. Long story, but to say the owner of her firm is a moron would be the understatement of the century. She'd like to find another job, but we don't have a clue how to go about it. I tried some google searches, but all I seem to find are directories with paid memberships and scams, and the job search engines are all on site jobs. Any suggestions?

Matt,
We could be married to the same woman! ![]() My wife is working now, but in another year or so would love to start her own gig, doing books from home. I think the key is, like anything else, to build a contact base in the meantime. Then plan a dateto start. Inform the contacts and have a few set up as charter clients. Start small, and then grow it. She could even try doing some part-time after her normal work hours. My wife has done a bit of freelance like this in the past for some small companies. Set up their books, manage them and get them rolling. It's a lot of work, has to be worth it in the long run. Good luck! Randy

not that this will help you wife's job search, and no disrepect intended. but i had an old dude i worked construction with years ago tell me that if he could lick his own balls he'd never have to leave his house.
doubt this helps, not really a job lead either. but i smiled thinking of the drunkin old frenchman telling me that story at lunch one day. |

Get her some nice professional business cards and possibly a little brochure that lists her services. Have them available and distribute freely. Don't be afraid to ask for business and cultivate referrals. Make contacts with bankers, lawyers and other professionals that small business owners use. You have to be proactive to have a successful small business. She has a very marketable skill, make sure the people know how to find her.

I'd love to Jerry, but until I am done with school she needs a dependable income. Once I graduate she is planning on getting her masters and a CPA, long term though she would love to operate her own small business, as you are suggesting.

wish, want, need, got.
First you wish you had it. Then you want to have it. Then you NEED to have it. Then you got it. Where are you in the process? My wife and I both work from home and have for many years. My wife has been my personal sexytary for 15 years now. http://www.rolyn.biz Just start saying No to jobs that take away your personal freedoms. Why people set alarms, drive to work everyday, all day just for a piece of cheese, I'll never understand. Spend some time planning your life....... it's funny how it works out after that? Good Luck Peace, |
