One of my favourite sayings is that the motorcycle is the safest vehicle on the road.... right up to the point of impact.
We can out start, out stop, out turn and out crash any other vehicle out there.

Out turn, really ? I thought 4 wheels allowed more lateral grip than 2... Didn't know that. Don;t think you can outstop or outturn an F1 though ;-) Unless it's shod with Michelins, ha !!! Kidding, I actually respect Michelin for their stance ! |

Actually, on Top Gear and in Evo, they've raced cars against bikes before and the cars won.
Evo did a Radical SR3 against some crotch rocket, the car could far, far out-corner the bike. Top Gear raced a 997 or maybe 996 (regular) against a sport bike on their track. In both instances the cars were quicker around the track.

I'd like to see what bikes & cars they used during this test. there are many bikes that would smoke even a highly modified car. in a straight line. cornering.....cars win hands down.

we could just go all the way with it and stick to comparing the pinnacle of each machinery, 1/2 liter GP bike to an F1 car....
it's been done before, sort of, when first Max Biaggi and later Valentino Rossi both had lapping sessions in Mugello in Ferraris, and both conceded that the cars stop and corner much better than their GP machines. Acceleration would be a matter of gear ratios per particular track etc etc. (Unless you want to jump into 1/4 mile-set-up Hayabusas etc etc) BTW, both riders lapped w/in 4 seconds of Schumacher's times (on their first outing in an F1 car!) |
