I've got my 10ft screen and projector TV installed, now which gaming system??
I'd like to do Xbox but do I get the current system or wait until the new system comes out? Any information out there on this? I've heard the new system will have more HD games and will be widescreen.

jonT-
check out my homepage. it's the website for the college gaming club i sponsor. they are hardcore gamers. LOTS of info on there about the XBox 360. if you are into XBox, i'd strongly urge you to wait for that little monster to be released--it's going to be a very impressive machine. wireless controllers will be standard, the HD will be fat, and the processing in it will match most pc's these days. next week i'm driving a rental van of eight students down to dallas texas for the CPL (cyberathlete professional league). we'll be there with 7,000 gamers from 70 different countries for championship tournaments in gaming. it is close to the most crazy thing ever. only downside is that i'll be away from my porsche for a week. |
how do I get to your homepage? Thx for the info

What projector did you go with if you don't mind my asking?

I bought a Mitsubishi HC900U from projectorusa.com. Had a great salesperson and absolutely love the projector and the service I received. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Phenomenal picture, not quite HD resolution (but very close) but DVD's look phenomenal as well as HD TV even in a brightly lit room. Its like a 10ft plasma on the wall with an HD signal.

Maybe we should make this a pic thread ;)
I think my next 'TV' will be a projector. I like the idea of stepping up in sizes gradually, instead of being locked into a size like I am with my 64" Pioneer. My single purpose Theatre room: http://www.bluegtzhome.com/pics/home...theatre001.jpg It's still a work in progress. http://www.bluegtzhome.com/pics/home...theatre002.jpg |
Thread hijack alert. Time for theater pictures.
I went for Sony W400Q a few years ago and a Draper M2500 screen in a 102" diagonal size (16:9 format). It was one of the first 16:9 format LCD projectors. It's really nothing special now, but is still fun. One of the best things was having a large screen and taking up zero floor space. I have had a good time with it and would love to build a theater room with a rear projection screen in the end wall to avoid the problems of having to control the light in the room. Here's a pic of the projector before the wires got hidden and an actual screen pic from a movie: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1119918859.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1119918879.jpg |
I recommend the following forum for all things home theater:
www.avsforum.com You will find many threads on gaming and projectors for consoles and PCs. |
Great thread. Thanks to a little discussion with einreb, I've been thinking of doing this. Great pic Rob !!

A new X-box is coming and also a Playstation that is supposed to be amazing.
I own both. Reason? The Grand Turismo series for the PS2 ( I have all 4) and Halo 1 and 2 for the X-box. Then Forza Motorsports came out = bonus. Go to a gaming store and look for factory reconditioned units for $130. |
BTW - I used to have a TV / Gaming Room before we had our 2nd son. :(
We are planning on adding a second floor to the house now and it will have a huge gaming / TV room the size of a 2 car garage. |
Here's a coupla pics from the viewing distance
