BTK Killer answering questions from the "Judge?

Is anyone else watching this BS?
Why isn't this man in shackles in the courtroom? Does anyone else find it entertaining to listen to him describe how he went about his business of killing innocent people? I certainly don't. Let's bring back the good old days, a man like this, just hang him. No stories, no book deals,no media drama BS, no more families suffering through all this....just kill him, get it over with, everybody will forget . end of story.

Our criminal justice system is definitely out of control, along with the media.

Talk to our liberal friends on the board who think the death penalty is wrong and he should be treated well in prison.

K. Roman 06-27-2005 07:58 AM

Terry,
Have you been to prison lately???

TerryBPP 06-27-2005 07:59 AM

Been in jail for a few weeks. It sucked and I definetly never want to go back. I know that prison is worse and it should be.

Have you ever had a family murder or raped by a serial killer?

K. Roman 06-27-2005 08:04 AM

Prison is alot different. It's no walk in the park.

TerryBPP 06-27-2005 08:08 AM

So do you think it should have been easier on you?

K. Roman 06-27-2005 08:16 AM

:D

"No, life in prison is not easy. Despite what people say, losing your freedom is a very significant punishment. Prisoners cannot leave when they want. They must do what they are told. Other people set their timetables, choose their roommates and associates and when and what they eat. They are locked up in their cells at night and possibly during the day too if they misbehave. The most frequent cause of death in prison is suicide."

Source.

Somehow, I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who "must do what they are told."

BTW: I was cleared of all pending charges ;)

Are there any moderates left? Do you have to either be a liberal or a conservative (treehugger vs. neocon).

When you make statements about the liberals think prisoners should be treated well in prison, it makes folks think stereotypical of conservatives. The truth is, the majority of folks are in the middle (with shades of grey dictating our differences).

When I see prisoner that have televisions in there rooms it makes me want to puke. Lucky FL doesnt allow that.

Neilk 06-27-2005 08:45 AM

I feel like I am one the "liberals" on the board, well if a Texas liberal counts. I am against treating POWs like in Gitmo badly, but this btk killer should be fried... or ... hmm the thought of him being someone's b!tch sounds pretty good too. I have no problems with the death penalty in such cases.

DaveE 06-27-2005 10:42 AM

The death penalty's great 'til you read on page 25 10 years after the guy was executed that he wasn't really guilty.

Be thankful the case against him, made by the prosecution and the law enforment agencies that caught him was strong enough that he would confess. Of course you have to wonder with his history of taunting the police that he didn't want this attention in the first place.

I'm just thankful that he's caught; I hope the sentencing is just enough to keep him behind bars at the least.

He wanted to be caught. He had started his old gig back up about 2 years ago, of sending info to the Police. It was a CD-R that finally gave him away, as a computer forensics scientist was able to find the username on the disc, kinda like a fingerprint.

When they pulled him over to arrest him, he actually confessed at that time.

Scary facts:

He wore a uniform for Park City, he was a Compliance Officer and a stickler for the codes.

He was a Cub Scout Leader, and the president of the congregation of Christ Lutheran Church.

And supposedly he was looking into getting a new job in security systems, which is supposedly how he was able to gain entry into his victim's homes.

The Death penalty for KS was inactive til 1994, thus all of his killings were before the death penalty and doesn't apply, too bad.

In a way, I'm glad it's over. It gets a bit tiring that the ONLY thing on the news is Dennis Rader and the BTK killings. Maybe they can focus on something else now.

I have the same emotions as you guys. And the same sense of outrage, when a conclusion seems REALLY obvious. But then...

I also know that things can seem obvious, and still be false. And here comes the biggie: it seems crystal clear to me that capital punishment, while emotionally satisfying, is actually a clear signal of an immature society. That seems obvious to me, so I won't try to convince someone to whom it does not seem obvious. But there's another angle as well......There was this guy who lived in the Middle East a couple of millenia ago. He never wrote anything but he shook things up pretty thoroughly and quite a few people have recorded his remarks. He may have been a lunatic but if he was not that, then He was definitely someone worth listening to. His remarks about killing were very unambiguous.

So, you can hurl al the insult you like at me for being a liberal like this guy was, and then turn and support killing. Not for me, though, I'm listening to that guy.
