Crybaby Roenick goes off on critical NHL fans
In a profanity-laced rant at a news conference for Mario Lemieux's charity golf tournament Saturday, Flyers center Jeremy Roenick ripped into fans who have been critical of the NHL Players' Association throughout the current NHL lockout.
"If people are going to sit and chastise pro athletes for being cocky, they need to look at one thing and that's the deal we're going to be signing in about three weeks,'' Roenick said. "Pro athletes are not cocky. Pro athletes care about the game. Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play a game, they can kiss my a--. "I will say personally, to everybody who calls us spoiled, you guys are just jealous. We're trying to get this thing back on the ice and make it better for the fans. If you don't realize that, then don't come. We don't want you in the rink, we don't want you in the stadium, we don't want you to watch hockey.'' Thank You, Jeremy.
Great way to win friends and influence people. Maybe the PA might want to consider a gag...

Pretty nasty - he'll regret that.
On the other hand, JR has given alot in his career and has always been one of my favorite players. WHAT IT FEELS LIKE...to Shatter Your Jaw By Jeremy Roenick, 34, center, Philadelphia Flyers | Aug 01 '04 I've broken probably about twenty bones in my life. I've broken both wristsone twice and one three timesand I've broken my arm once. I've broken all my fingers, three or four of my toes. I broke my ankle once. Broke my nose eight times. It's amazing they still keep me on TV. I got hit earlier this season by a puck in my cheekbone during practice and had to get twenty-seven stitches and got a slight concussion. But shattering my jaw was by far the most painful. It was the third period of a game in February this season, just a couple of minutes in. We were playing the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, and I had just lost a face-off in my own zone to the left of the goaltender. I lost sight of the puck, and it went right back to their defenseman, who wound up, took three strides, and stepped into a slap shot that got away from him. I actually saw the puck about three or four inches from my face. It was just a blur, just like a shadow in the corner of my eye. It was gonna hit me right in the mouth... They'd have to pay me millions to do that. Ouch!

No argument about the guys guts & glory, but he might want to try to learn timing and a little PR.
You don't call the people who buy tickets whiners or crybabies or the like.

Wasn't the whole strike about revenue < players salaries?

The strike was to reduce costs for the owners (they won), but Jeremy thought they should concede the battle just so he could earn his 2004/2005 salary.

Don't forget this is not a strike, the crybaby owners locked the players out. No doubt everybody earns way too much money, but the owners are just being stupid.

There's a lock out? Must have missed it...cause I don't miss the NHL, that's for sure.
