Herbie gets a whale tail.

Herbie Fully Loaded is released on June 22. I don't know who's anticipating this movie more... me or my 5 year old daughter.

Gotta love the whale tail and side scoops:

At Herbie's age, getting any tail is a good thing...

I saw a preview with him snuggling up to a "new" Beetle.

That car is 30 years younger!

Where's the outrage?

NASCAR Herbie will really do 130 mph. It has hugh four wheel disk brakes, on board halon system, and had to meet NASCAR tech inspection.

Hugh,

Do they supe up the VW engine in that car or did they put something bigger (chevy v8 or something else). I remember hearing for the original Love Bug that a Porsche engine had been used.

In this movie, they're VW push rod engines that have been seriously built, they dyno'd at close to 200 HP. Don't know if the original Herbie used a Porsche engine or not.

Original Herbie had all 356 back end - engine, trans, etc. One of the guys on 356talk actually owns (or owned) one of the Herbies used in the original movies.

Very cool - I can't wait for this remake to come out. I loved the original as a kid. Probably was my starting addiction into cars.

http://www.clubvw.org.au/herbie_no%202.htm - A little web search can find anything. According to this website, the car has "A Porsche 356 Super 90 engine was fitted, together with magnificent Porsche finned drum brakes, Koni shocks and front and rear stabilisers."

Yahoo has some exclusive clips at:
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/herbiefullyloaded.html
If you watch "Tricked out Herbie" you'll see a giant Mid America Motorworks banner. I wonder how much they paid for that.

My daughter was laughing so hard she just about fell in the floor while watching those clips.

I know the Yagers own some of the original Herbies used in the original movies.

I just saw Herbie and thought it was fantastic. Hugh, you guys did a great job. It really carried the spirit of Herbie. I had a hard time adjusting to the Herbie with the scoops and the pimped out tail but NASCAR Herbie was really cool as well as some of the other ones. I am also going to see it again at the El Capitan toward the end of the month.
