Best antispyware software, SpyBot!

Just wanted to pass this along. I've used several (Microsoft's, Ad-aware) and hands down Search and Destroy's Spybot is the most consistent remover of spyware. I had a particularly annoying one on a computer (Wild Tangent) that my kids downloaded that I could not remove, even after going into the registry. I tried ad-aware that completed skipped it. Downloaded SpyBot and it found it, removed no problem. Microsofts Beta spyware removal found nothing. Free and available at www.downloads.com

Spybot is king!

I use Spybot and the Microsoft Beta.

Microsoft's version runs in the background and will auto check your computer based on your scheduling. Spybot only checks when you run it.

So, I have MS running and checking every night about 3am and I manually use Spybot every week or so. Both have found or prevented stuff regularly and seem to play nice together.

Also use Ad-aware every week or so - always finds something.

Spy-bot, AdAware and AVG antivrus. All completely free, very good at what they do and best of all non intrusive. I always install them after a clean install of Windows or format my HD. I'd never be without them

I use OSX.

I used to use Spybot and Adaware, but I found both of those would leave stuff on the computer. I switched to the Microsoft version and it's keeping me clean. Something you may want to look at if you have something that's not coming out is turning off the "system restore" scan, reboot, scan again, and if successful turn the system restore back on.

I use Spybot S&D, but it has never found anything. Though that may be because I use Firefox and Thuderbird.

Ad - Aware is ok too, the MS beta version always tried to update MS Money which I removed for my system the day I got it, very annoying, it also got the boot.

Symantic AV was fine but I could never tweek Symantics Firewall to work well on all sites.

I used the Microsoft beta for a few months and it never found anything. I reloaded spybot after noticing slower processing and there was a ton of crap on my cpu.

For what it's worth, I feel microsoft's beta is better at removing and more importantly, PROTECTING against this stuff.

Also, spybot and nothing esle woudl get rid of teh stuff we had before. Installed norton's antivirus (2005) and it god rid of it perfect.

Webroot Spysweeper is veru good as well. However, after the 30 day trial period it bugs the hell out of you to subscribe.

Webroot Spysweeper is very good as well. However, after the 30 day trial period it continues to load and bug the hell out of you to subscribe.
