Cops in Porsches?!?!

Is this article true?

http://www.dubspeedracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5955

This is how you solve a budget crisis? What an f-ed up state.....

V8 mustangs at 1/3 the cost wouldn't do it? Can't wait to hear the BS replies trying to justify this.....

Bobboloo 06-28-2005 11:22 PM

Officer Nowegotcha? I think someones jerkin your chain.

island911 06-28-2005 11:22 PM

"CHP spokesman Officer Bruce Nowwegotcha "

"Nowwegotcha"? . . he must be Japanese. ;)

island911 06-28-2005 11:23 PM

At least no one from California was so stupid they had to ask the rest of this BBS if the article was true or not

Good photoshop :D

From the Golden Gate PCA region web page: www.pca-ggr.org:

"Picture of the Month

After 3 years as TT Chairman, Chris Murray has decided to pursue a career in law enforcement. This was after he was lead to believe he could use his own car in high speed chases. Ever optimistic, Chris took it upon himself to outfit his car.

Picture: Harold Williams "

This is actually Chris Murray's concept Cayman. If you look closely, you will notice that this is a boxter with a real roof, not a factory hard top. I think I remember that the car had help with more than a boxter power plant?

I sense a photoshop... and Nowwegotcha is just too easy! One good tip to recognize the photoshop is by looking at the front valance/bumper area. There is no shadow, and there looks to be a painted black line where the shadow is supposed to be.

Sorry I call Bull**** on that....CHP or any American Police agency would never make a Cabrio as a cop car.

Further more a Porsche no less? Taxpayers would be screaming at their local congressman....now there is a good source of taxpayer's money....they would buy a GTO or Mustang way before a Boxster.

Yasin

Clearly bull****. The mullet reference should make that plain.

In the 1970's and '80's the 911 Targa was the police vehicle of choice on the German autobahns. It was always a wonderful sight to see the go screaming by.

It was a joke bonehead.

84porsche 06-29-2005 07:32 AM

I was actually wishing it was true so if I ever get pulled over by one they would be more understanding. A Porsche pulled over by a Porsche, wouldn't it be nice.

HardDrive 06-29-2005 07:49 AM

I think it would be funny to hear the CHP *****ing about the rear main seal failures and total engine replacements at 40k.

ya mean Californians wouldn't notice stupid crazy stuff as out of the ordinary?

Well, up here we do see stupid crap like that. The cops will sport around in whatever vehicle, which they can confiscate, as part of their fleet. Ya know, to make the cops look as cool  as the drug dealers. (some such excuse; I think that they just like driving something different . ..then they sell it at auction.)

"Ya know, to make the cops look as cool  as the drug dealers."--island911

I knew some cops who were drug dealers. :(

RSBob 06-29-2005 09:51 AM

Talking about 'cool' confiscated cop cars... saw a Hyundi Elantra being used as an 'unmarked' by the State Patrol on I-90. How's that for being invisible? Add that to their unmarked SUVs, Volvo Wagons, Impalas, 2 cabs (not as in cabriolets), and whatever else they can get their hands on. The only tip off is blacked-out windows.

jorian 06-29-2005 09:58 AM

Cops up here have been spotted in Volvo V70R's, Jaguar XKRs, Mercedes 430 SUVs along with an assortment of other Detroit iron sleepers.
