Fireworks! Legal or Illegal in your area?

Are fireworks legal or illegal in your area? They are legal in Costa Mesa but illegal in most areas of Southern Cali. The legal ones do not shoot in the air or explode

If you would like to buy some and shoot some off (kids or no kids) PM me this weekend and I would be happy to lend you my street, talk some cars, and watch you loose some fingers. Seriously if you want to shoot some off let me know (must be over 18).

"technically " illegal. If you sign a waiver saying they will be used for varmit control you can buy anything you like. They pretty much don't enforce it after that. I think the only "legal" state is one of the Carolinas.

My dad just got his high explosives license from the BATF. He has some stuff on the way but is looking for a class A importer. So if you know anyone, he's fully legal...just green.

We have the "Safe 'n Sane" type booths all over town...legal in most cities, illegal in most of King County (Seattle and suburbs).

Living in Snohomish Co., just north of KING CO. all the Safe-n Sane stuff is legal, and boring.

4th of July in my neighborhood is usually (unless it rains) truly spectacular as almost everyone foregos the legal stuff and heads to the reservations for the good stuff.

Anyone need a 1/2 stick of dynamite for their mole problem? You can get 'em, here.

Pretty sure it's mostly illegal here.

Though in a place where brush/forest/wildfires are de rigueur, that's understandable.

On the other hand, I think lots of folks just go outside and fire off a few rounds in drunken celebration.

In south Carolina you can still get mortars, both in 1" and 2", my roomate will be heading down there later to get some.

My favorite "legal" firework is a sparkler, wirewrap ~1000 together, stick it in a clay pot, use one as a fuse and light it off.. got two words, mushroom cloud. All 1000 burn in about a second or a second and a half

Hmm 2" mortars are nice What is the "loosest" state, SC? I would think OK and TX would be pretty wild, no?

I just bought some firecrackers, M-60's and assorted bottle rockets and larger rockets last January in New Mexico and Texas. They sell alot of that stuff here in Kentucky too around the 4th. I have bought some similar fireworks in Tennessee also.

TN has crazy fireworks. I always get a laugh when I stop for fuel at Nervous Charlies on my way to KY. Its basically an enormous airconditioned fireworks stand at the TN-KY line on I65 thats attached to a bunch of fuel pumps.

Wyoming is pretty much anything goes. I of course live 30 miles south of Wyoming. If I were to go up there and get some ("if" being key, I would never do anything illegal, smile) I would have gone up two Saturdays ago (would have of course), since I know this weekend the state troopers do some random stops of vehicles entering the State with CO tags from Wyoming searching for them.

THe only probelm with the real big ones is that they act like a big neon sign pointing to where you lighting them off....

Enjoy and be safe!

Illegal here in my parish (county to you guys), but that doesn't stop anyone. a few miles away in another parish it's legal. I think I'll take a ride this weekend and stock up. we shot a grocery bag full at our wine shop parking lot in the heart of town for New Years. Cops just waved as they passed. the sky over the whole town lights up for holidays it seems. sometimes it's almost as good as the professional shows the city puts on. you can get some major fireworks down here cheap at this one fireworks stand not far away from home

Sweet... that's the only thing legal in NoVA. You've just made is fun again. Then again it looks like that would cost about $50 for 5 seconds fun....

AZ outlaws them for some obvious reasons including fire danger. But, strangely enough down the road in New Mexico there are fireworks stores all along rte 10.

Illegal in PA. You can buy them in PA but you cannot be a PA resident to do so. I cannot go to another state and buy them either because they check my license and see that I'm an incompetent from PA who needs to be protected from fireworks.....................................

Unless you like sparklers and candles, illegal in CT.

New Hampshire has established fireworks stores, though, and I think just about everything is fair game up there. The "live free or die" theme really applies for them.

FWIW, I did the sparkler thing an hour ago. It was pretty neat, we used about 700 sparklers and it cost me $25.

It's worth it
