The history of this guy's dirty tricks campaigns and use of FBI stooges is pretty amazing.

Just like the pre-debate 'planted microphone' in the original W campaign, people see the fine hand of Mr Rove all over the 'Rathergate' memos and the traitorous 'outing' of Valerie Plame.

Of course, fint once posted that 'W doesn't listen to him much' in reference to Rove, and fint's pretty close to the administration, so we should take his word for it.

No, haven't seen it. Just noticed a trend and have read about each campaign on both conservative and liberal sites.

Give it 2 weeks, with Gonzales in the running, the Right has already started attack ads against him, so it's only a matter of time for the whisper campaign to come out.

I'm genuinely intrigued!

But what is Karl gonna do if it turns out he is the source that outed Valerie Plame? Somebody in the gov gave away a national security secret which is tantamount to treason (and now, after the investigation, probably perjury as well). Plame's husband has suggested it was Karl and Karl is quoted as telling Chris Mathews that Plame was "fair game" right after her name appeared. So if it turns out to have been Karl, what will happen?

Of course it was him, Presidential pardon does seem likely on the last day of office.

I think the arrogance of this administration will allow it to either completely avoid prosecuting Rove (see Novak) or to refuse access to evidence (phone records, etc.).

I don't know if any of you listen to Drudge's radio show, but he's the one the right has picked to send up trial balloons. Last night he was saying: 'why don't they leave Novak alone? He's done so much over the years.'

IOW, treasonous behavior is okay when the right does it.

They might try to stonewall like Nixon did in Watergate. But like Watergate, there is a judge with a very bad attitude pushing the Plame case the way Judge Sirica pushed the Watergate case. IIRC, Sirica squeezed the underlings hard with threats and penalties that bordered on illegal in order to make them cough up the truth. And it seems Judge Henderson is playing a similar game of hardball with the Plame case. And it appears to have produced results if Time really does produce the smoking gun emails and notes and memoes. And unlike Watergate, outing a spy is a much easier crime for the public to understand than plumbers and coverups etc. The 'T' word ("treason") is gonna be flying around right from the getgo IMO.
