I just returned from visiting a friend, (and occasional poster here), who has a 2005 Elise. It is one of the coolest sports cars ever made available to the public, an absolute gem. Car nuts literally drool over it, and rightly so. It's a work of art. That said, it is about as close to unusable as a daily driver as any car ever sold to the public. I think that it has 8 cubic inches of cargo room. You put two grown men in it and there isn't room for a briefcase inside the car. I schit you not.
The same friend also has an '89 911 coupe, (mostly stock), which is like a large sedan compared to the Lotus, comfortable and roomy for two people + luggage. And quiet and weather tight.
A new Mustang would be a considerable step up from the 80s 911 in everyday user friendliness, and absolutely the other end of the spectrum from an Elise. Quite a different price range as well. Apples and anvils.
