Building a web page using the Space Pelican offers

I was wondering if anyone has information on where I can get some information to build a web page using the space the Pelican offers. I have ZERO experience making a web page so I am talking from an absolute begginer. Are there good books or web pages with instructions. Is it rediculously easy and I am just missing something? Anyway if anyone has some information or can guide me to a place where I can find information it would be greatly appreciated. I appologize for making a thread without a political argument behind it in the OT forum.

Thanks
Rich

don't know about the pelican angle, but html is easy.

google whatever you want to do with the word "tutorial" and you'll get plenty of useful results.

about all you could do with the pelican space is build your profile/gallery page... but it's totally templated and plain.

if you want a real website, you can get a domain and hosting with some template interface for cheeeeap these days. Godaddy is $4/month hosting. More transfer and space than you'll ever use.

My site is hosted here but there's no "support" or templates. Wayne gives me FTP space, I upload my files, and all maintenance, design, etc is done by Me Myself & I Inc. You'll get hosting but no support, so creation and maintenance is up to you.

There's plenty of apps out there for doing basic to intermediate HTML layout - I use Microsloth's app, I forget what it is called as I haven't updated my page since '03 (kids keep ya busy).

Google "HTML layout" or "Web page design" and you'll be busy for hours.

I've been messing with it today. Yeah I am working hard! ! ! Anyway so far I have done stuff 2 ways.

1. Copy and pasted simple stuff in HTML (look up as suggested above)format onto notepad in accessories. Save the notepad as xxxxxx.html, and then upload the document onto using the builder that pelican offers.

2. The other way that I have done it is by making a simple page on word and saving it as a web page. So far I am doing OK with this but I can't get my pictures to show up???????

3. One thing that I have noticed is that you have a main web page mine is:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/rmshaner/

to edit this page you have to save it as index.htm If you delete index.htm your web page will just have links to the other crap you have put on there so far.

You can see my page so far. It has a LONG way to go but I am enjoying/ be frustrated by figuring it all out. If anyone has some good hints or anything let me know.

One thing that has helped and confused me at the same time is going to someone elses page and right clicking and selecting source. I have copied and pasted a couple things sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
