carfax error.....what's the best way to correct?
ran a carfax on my 911 and it's saying that the odometer has potentially been turned back by about 6,000 miles.
this has never been done, also the date they show on the report is april 2004, just before hershey last year....... well my 911 was in my garage for 5 months for winter until 1 week before hershey....getting new interior etc. plus the car has never been anywhere where a record would have been recorded (emissions is in sept, i DIY everything). what is the best way to approach this? if i ever try to sell the car this is a deal killer. total BS..... |
Yeah, I would like to know too.
I told the emissions guy exact miles of 100,028 . .. he entered 128,000. Carfax doesnt care . . .they dont have to. |
There are more mistakes made at smog time, when reading the odometer people get confused, or are reading at an angle, I always make certain they are aware of this.........

well i tracked it down.......
the date is from when i dropped off my wheels (not the whole car.....just wheels) for new tires at a local p-car shop. well it seems they just guessed and entered milage on their invoice even though they didn't have the car......they guessed. i spoke with one of the button pusher service advisors and they're giving me the run-around saying they can't get into the file of the computer. so monday i'll be stopping in to speak with the GM of the dealership......i'm pissed. they never had my 911 on their premisis and now i have a red flag on carfax for anyone who would want to buy my car should i sell it in the future. |
Carfax is about as accurate as Equifax. And just about as difficult to correct.
