Brit Hume, a class act

He said his first thought, upon hearing of the London bombing, was, "Time to buy," referring to the stock market. Such a humanitarian. Others were thinking of the victims.................

Correction, some were thinking of the victims. Others were thinking about how Bush & Blair lied/failed/whatever.

I think the "lying" thing is old and overdone. Move on. The deed is done, and now we have to follow through. Retrospective finger pointing is childish.

Bryan, I'm not even talking about Bush/Blair/WMD/etc/yadayadayada. Also I never said 'everyone'. My first post said 'others'; my second said 'most'. Your very link shows that most WERE thinking of the victims. I'm only talking about what an a$$ Brit Hume is, thinking of his wallet first in the face of a tragedy. "Hmmm, how can I profit on this?" Do you want to defend that instead of going off on a tangent? This isn't about 'lib/con'.

This is a big problem with the New Right. They are always on, there's no off switch. Everything is about "you're attacking us" and the tirades begin. I wish they'd calm down and start thinking rationally again. My sense is there's a deep-seated fear that they really are screwing up the country and can't admit it, so they are always in attack mode. All that negative energy, whew!

Heard Bill Kristol the other day on NPR. Very smart man, but he's clearly delusional given the real-world report card on the neocon experiment.

Indeed. It’s a shame there can’t be more regenerative discourse such as the examples provided by our tribunes of positiveness on the Jacobin side, including but not limited to Howard Dean, who claims (each day, it seems) that his political opponents are evil, Julianne Malveaux, who wishes Clarence Thomas "would die," Janeanne Garofolo, who wishes George Bush would, Paul Begala, who asserts the Right is trying to kill him, the New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Boston Globe and media outlets ad nauseum whose adolescent operating credo seems to be “stop the world, disregard our storied reputations for good journalism, today we have a chance to derail the Bush presidency," and the umpteen million minions of moveon dot org tripping over each other with hate and making a splendid public spectacle of themselves in the process. Now that may not inspire in the traditional sense, but it sure does set an awfully high standard of persistent negativity in the face of poor ratings. Where's the payoff, they must be asking.

If there are umpteen millions of moveon dot org out there, there has to be a reason. SOmething somewhere is setting them off. Gotta ask why...Not all of them can be total nut carsr, no more than any other political group. It is the failure of these groups, right and left, to listen to each other and work toward common ground. They may not always agree, but at least they would know just what or who was pi$$ing the opposition off and why, rather than conjecture, innuendo and worse.

Like the extremes of both sides here in our little microcosm. No effort to read and undersatand, just post more insults. THAT really gains converts, now, doesn't it?
