Help with name of Japanese Horror Film

Saw a snippet of "Scariest Horror Films" or some such show a few months ago...one of the top 10 was a Japanese (or maybe other Asian area) flick, and now I am trying to recall the name.

The plot was about a young woman who'd been rejected by others (men, jobs, etc.) and finally snapped by taking them back to her place and using all kind of evil devices to extract revenge. I seem to recall needles played a key role. The reporters/commentators all said the same thing: Scary as Hell. and almost unwatchable. Yeah baby!

So, horror-film guys, what's the name of this "pointed" flick?

I'm not into 'subtitles' but I do like horror. It almost sounds like you have the plot wrong, but it sounds like you are looking for 'Audition'.

From Amazon:

Quote:
If you want the full sledgehammer-to-the-stomach effect of Audition, stop reading this review now. Just watch it and take the consequences. At first glance, Takashi Miike's jack in the box of a movie works like a romantic comedy: amiable widower Shigeharu Aoyama (Ryo Ishibashi) decides it's time to find a new wife, and a friend suggests holding a fake audition to find the right girl. It soon becomes clear that there is something wrong with Aoyama's choice. This is no ordinary Fatal Attraction-style thriller, however; Audition slowly and carefully builds into a wrenching exploration of both deep male fears and the stereotype of the cute, submissive Japanese woman. Audition is by no means an easy movie to watch--even hardcore horror fans may have trouble--but it will stay with you for a long, long time. --Ali Davis
Basically the cute innocent girl ends up torturing and mutilating the man in the end. She shoots him up with pain enhancing drugs, sticks numerous needles in his face, cuts off his foot, and I'm guessing it might even get worse from there?

Other Asian flicks you might check out.

Ichi the Killer(Unrated) - supposedly one of the most violent and gorey films ever.

Ju-on - which is the Japanese original version of 'The Grudge'. I've read that the american version "The Grudge" sucks in comparison to Ju-on.

The Eye - this is supposed to be genuinely scary.

/\

I should probably get over more dislike of subtitles, and actually give the flicks a chance, I just feel that if I wanted to 'read a movie', I'd pick up a book.

Honorable mentions for US Horror.

The Evil Dead Book of the Dead edition - Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi and Bruce Cambell's first film as college drop outs. Good gore, and down right funny due to the poor directing and acting skills.

The Evil Dead 2 - Same guys, a little more experience and added some slapstick due to their love of the 3 stooges. Sure, the blood may be black or green, but then again it was a failed attempt at getting an R rating(as opposed to the X that E.D received, making them opt for the 'Unrated' classification).

Hellraiser - the first one had some good old fashioned bloody and almost brutal scenes in it.

Hellbound - Not as good as Hellraiser, but it still had some nice effects in it.

Anything with 'H.P. Lovecraft' somewhere in the title:
Re-Animator and Bride of Re-Animator.
From Beyond

Newer movies.

Dark Castle entertainment: Th13rteen Ghosts has some nice seems in it. And the scene in Ghost Ship where they do the flashback of what happened to everyone on board has some nice F/X too.

Dawn of the Dead(re-make) isn't too bad, but no where near as gorey as the original.

Of course you could always set the first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan into a continuous loop, and get all the gore you'd ever need in a night.

Ju-On = Ju-yawn. Won't see the essentially scene-for-scene Gellar vehicle remake.

Though Ringu (The Ring) was great, and I'm looking forward to Skeleton Key.

My $0.02.
