I've seen that guy hit shots that are impossible. And a class act to boot. I think the '86 Masters is one of the great moments in sports history. He brought the back nine at Augusta to its knees, instead of the other way around. They thought he was a sad, washed-up has-been.

I remember watching him win that last Masters in '86 and yes, that is indeed one of the great moments in sports that I can think of...
I also remember watching him a lot back in the 70's, and what's cool about that last hole today is that back then that was a trademark of his - making that birdie putt on the last hole of the day/tournament. I remember him doing it many times so it was a very fitting way for him to finish... |

Never really cared for Jack, sorta a horses asss if you ask me.
He was however one of the greatest golfers of all time, probably #2 to be precise. Give me a Palmer any day ![]()

There was always something about him that kept me from really being a big fan. However there is no denying that he is truly an icon of the sport and probably of his generation. Great exit!!!

Jack has and is giving alot back to the game. The Memorial for one, and the players yearly that have been honored there.
I enjoyed his comments following his final round this Friday, and appreciated his appearance (walking with his ceramic hip) in the Master's this year after the family tragedy. Yes, Arnie is a favorite, he (and his agent), came along at the right time of televised golf. Today, too much long ball. Par fives have become fours and mandatory birdie holes because of only one factor. Classic courses modified. (Like corked bats, or allowing aluminum bats in the majors). I also can't recall any champions of the past (prior to Jack and Arnie) to be "club throwers" in reaction to losing it.
