PayPal & Ebay

Ok,

For the most part, I like PayPal. My biggest beef with them is that once you upgrade to a 'business' account - ie, the first time you take a credit card payment, you take it in the ass for 3% on every transaction, forever. For this reason, I've maintained two accounts, one for just transfers, one for credit cards. I've tried to communicate the difference between the accounts to people, and had the deny many a credit card transaction sent to the cash account.

I was just on ebay, and I see they're implenting a new policy where you can't only accept cash transfer PayPal payments - you gotta take what the customer offers.

Greedy *********s.

Oh, that's my rant for the morning.

You know, years ago, somebody realized that a huge amount of money was being transferred around between banks, and that if you sucked a tiny fraction off the top of each miniscule transfer, you'd be a billionaire. The Ebay/Paypal combo does exactly that. Each auction clears them a tiny amount -- only a dollar or two for the vast majority. Paypal only claims a few measly percent -- not enough to gripe about, for most of us ....... but boy, I'll bet that adds up quick.

I refuse to use either of the above mentioned entities.

I hate paypal with a passion and think if its on E-bay your about to be ripped off.

I don't like it either so I now I up shipping and handling costs to account for the 3% because I have a business account for accepting credit cards with them. I got stuck upgrading because I wanted to receive my money.

Look at www.ebaysucks.com and www.paypalsucks.com

Very good info there... Personally I hate both Ebay and Pay Pal but end up using them anyway. Will never upgrade to the business account for the reasons Thom mentioned.

BTW, my boss is one of the origional investors in Pay Pal. He made millions on it...
