what's your screen name mean?

most of the neocons have one hand tied behind their back creatively, hence the use of their regular first and last name. very republican of them, but we fairy, taken from behind liberals see things different so we use some of our creativity.

so i will go 1st, K9, a dog, a bad dog that gets on your girlfriends leg kinda thing. in the hood all us guys are "dog this" and "dog that", so it was a discovery while searching for my street cred. the 11sc just completes the car theme.

whats your story?

bryanthompson 07-21-2005 01:54 PM

It's my secret cia identity. shh, don't out me.

vash 07-21-2005 02:05 PM

i heard moses's last night. i will let him tell it.

i got mine on a visit to tucson. i visited a bunch of gun toting chinese dudes. they set up a shooting range on this guy's property. i made fun of them. until it was my turn to go. they had AR-15's set up to shoot cheapo .22 LR bullets. so there was absolutely no kick. i blasted through that thing, and had the best time doing it. i was almost as good as the SWAT guys. they asked me, "do you shoot alot?"

i said, "no, i just got done watching TRIGUN."
"oh, great now you think your Vash?" (main character)

red-beard 07-21-2005 02:16 PM

Well, I have a Red-beard........

And it was going to be the name of my microbrewery...

kjb 07-21-2005 02:20 PM

mine is made up of my initials: judging by Toby's standards, I must be a neocon.

btw, Toby, we missed you last night. we had to laugh at Cliff instead.

Drago 07-21-2005 02:24 PM

Nickname from H.S.

Ever seen Rocky 4? I resembled Ivan Drago in my senior year:

Minus the ripped body though. :p

stomachmonkey 07-21-2005 02:25 PM

watching Dave Letterman one night. He's got these dice with words on them.

The bit was "How bands get their names". He rolled them and stomach and monkeys came up.

Dave launched into an improve about stomachmonkeys as a way to describe the after affects of a bad meal.

It was late and I was tired but I thought it was the funniest thing I'd heard so next day at work I checked on the url and it was available so I nabbed it.

A year later I got an offer to sell it to a punk band named The Stomachmonkeys.

Anyway I kept it.

BlueSkyJaunte 07-21-2005 02:28 PM

BlueSkyJaunte == "He who cannot remember that cool phrase from that book that he really liked."

kach22i 07-21-2005 02:37 PM

Kach.............first four letters of last name

22.................birthday, cool number too.

i...................I, me, and because kach22 was taken at a yahoo group so I thought of "i" as used in Old English (and poetry), and recalling the Martin Logan electrostatic speaker Aerius-i, which followed the original Aerus which I own and love. Also I follow my father and fathers father in name.

And of course the book/movie "Catch-22", being crazy means you are sane.

Take most arguments on-line. Talk enough and you may go full circle undoing your own stance. Example; We must go to war to preserve peace - a classic Catch-22.

Anyone remember this thread?

My screen name is kind of obvious but I started the forum hunting over at 6speedonline and rennlist and have the same user name over there and found Pelican by accident when the TRE thread came up for a New Years Day run and when I read the Bennett project story I figured these must be a great group of guys, honest.

Jims5543 07-21-2005 02:59 PM

Not that anyone cares, I am a NewB desperatly trying to find the right 930, a place to keep it and not get killed by the wife once I purchase it.

Jims - Came from my early days of playing the Grand Turismo video game. I typed in Jim then hit the S by accident. My brother was playing it w/ me one day and started calling me Jims.

5543 - is my State Land Surveyors License number.

First name, first initial of last name, I must be an uncreative neocon.

techweenie 07-21-2005 03:04 PM

Since I soldered together my first computer in 1976, and managed advertising for a long string of cutting-edge high tech companies, it seemed as if everywhere I worked, I had the most knowledge about, and least fear of 'tech.'

So I was the techweenie.

Can you guess mine?

I want to own a 911... :D

Hetmann 07-21-2005 03:08 PM

At the end of the 16th century the commander of Ukrainian Cossacks were also called Hetmans. From 1648 Bohdan Khmelnytsky's Chmielnicki uprising, Hetman was the head of the Cossack state. Cossack hetmans had very broad powers and acted as heads of the Cossack state, their supreme military commanders, the top legislators (by issuing administrative decrees).

MysticLlama 07-21-2005 03:11 PM

Used to play an old online RPG with my buddies at MS. One of them was starting out at one point in time and had been training his character for a couple of days and wanted to kill some wildlife.

He killed some squirrels, a bird or two, etc. etc. and decided to go after a llama. Well, the llama was going to have none of that and started beating him to death, so he ran... then he kept running... it kept chasing him, odd for this game, chased him for 45 minutes as he was swearing on the other side of the room. I suppose I could have just killed it at any point in time, but it was more fun to follow him around and laugh.

Since we played a lot of other games at the time, Quake2, Half-Life, etc., I decided to take on the name MysticLlama to chase and torment him constantly.

It was unique enough that I just kept it. A few people here and there use something similar, but it's held up pretty well across messengers, games, etc.

Wasn't feeling too creative when I registered. Wishing I had retained some anonymity... keep thinking of fun ones I'd like to have, lately wishing it was Big Giant Head.
