Porsche should be teaming up with Subaru to build a car with STI componets and make it the size and weight of an Elise but with about 100 more HP.

If Subaru would up the interior quality to match their engines, I would of probably bought one. They make awesome cars but I like and will always like the close of a German car door. It is a solid sound.

They made this "SAABaru" 9-2 badge-engineered thing which is basically a subby Impreza with nicer interior.

They have not brought to market a car like this before. They are race car customizers. I'm going to reserve a little doubt on this one and guess they might build 10 cars at $100,000 each (if anything), not 10,000 cars at $74,000.

Yeah, Prodrive doesn't get out of bed in the morning unless they get a huge markup. Their business is hurting right now, so it makes sense that they're looking for something like this.

Of course, you can achieve pretty close to the same results (less the swoopy styling, of course) with a basic selection of standard and aftermarket components using a lightweight mid-90s Impreza as the platform.
