I'd like some help with my Pelican email.

Responce is slow at Pelican and maybe some of you have faced this issue. I recently signed up for a Pelican email, zeke-at-pcarfanatic-dot-com to receive emails from Pelicans. I have had email disabled since the mass emails of a few months ago. And the email and instant notifications of PM's have never worked for me. They don't cancel and keep popping up in my screen. Very annoying. So, email could be good, but when I change my email addy in my profile to the one I got at Pelican, I lock my self out of the house.

Or so it seemed. Anyway, I couldn't post for a day. I changed my mail back to the old and confirmed and I'm back. But, that is not how I want it set up. I'm not even sure how I got back in to re-edit my profile, but I don't want to do it again, get locked out.

Ideas?

Zeke;

Sorry about what I am about to say.

You made my day. If a moderator can't make that work, I don't feel so bad, I was having the exact same prob.

Michael.

I wish I had talked to a moderator. Instead, I emailed Wayne and got an automated response. Didn't even address the issue. My message and current actions trying to save myself might have been plenty confusing.

Send a message via Yahoo to 84porsche
I just set one up. I will test it out and see how it goes. However, this would seem like quite an extra step to have to log in to a mail account on Pelican to see if anyone responded to a thread on the BBS. My recommendation would be for you to set-up a yahoo/msn account(both free) and let all your BBS mail or notifications go there. Then if you install a messenger service both also free you will receive an instant notification that someone has responded to one of your many threads. This idea also keeps your personal mailbox clutter free. It would be very simple. Let me know if you need help with any particular step if you decide to do this.

Zeke:
Regarding pop-up notes and PM's: check your Pelican profile so see if you have such settings turned on or off.

Regarding email: have you logged into your Pelican email? Have you sent yourself a message? Are you having problems with the email system, or just the interface between that and the access to the Pelican BBS. (I believe once you're in, you have the ability to change your profile without locking yourself out of the BBS)

this is what I thought was happening.

I log on and go to the edit profile. Change my email to the new one at Pelican. Submit. Now I wait for an email that says it needs me to confirm my addy so they know it's real. But, the email goes to the Pelican account. Meanwhile, I'm locked out. Email arrives at Pelican account. I can't log on to access it. Sort of a circle. I defeated the circle once, but ended up with my same old email that I have hidden since the hack.

Just a follow up. It works differently that I thought. I didn't realize that one can log on to the email account at Pelican while not being logged on the forums. Stupid me. All is well and now people can email me once again thru the board.
