There's hope for Dubya

hey, I heard this morning that Dubya will be meeting with his Energy Department to be briefed on the refinerly damage situation. Setting aside the observation that he's looking into the family business as much as he's looking into the welfare of the nation, I'd point out that this report shows two good things about our "president." First, he's doing something. That's new. Perhaps Katrina woke him up. And second, if the purpose of the meeting is to brief him, then there's a chance he may intend to start listening. From my perspective that'd be another improvement in his performance. Until now, I'd never heard a world leader brag that he ignores the information sources used by the rest of the world.

Anyway, his modus operandi seems to be changing. It's a switch from making decisions from the back of a horse based on advisers' verbal depictions.

Really? because when Cheney met with the Energy Department and various leaders around the country you screamed conspiracy.

What's different?

Bryan,

Whats different is that Supe is actually looking at Bush in a different light. This is a good thing!

We all have to get through this and pointing fingers and jumping up and down is helping no one.

Lets fix the situation and get moving forwards again!

To my understanding, the "administration" to this day refuses to tell who was at Cheney's meeting or what they discussed. Nobody minds an administration representative doing their job and managing the country. The problem with Cheney's meeting, and this administration, is concealment.

Cheney's Energy meetings with Industry to directly write Policy were centered around NOT building new refineries. the neocons all say that environmentalists wouldn't let Big Oil build new refineries, which may have been true at one time, but when W got into office 5 years ago, republicans owned every level of government. building new refineries would have been EASY to pass legislation around, didn't they get $500M in the recent energy bill for exploration? Why explore when you can't even keep up with crude production? Instead, smart Oil, with the best lobbyests and analysts on the planet decided they could make more money with a shortage of gas production. I think this was covered in my Economics 101 and PoliSci 204 classes.

Gee thanks, Supe. I am sure that your condescension and charity mean a lot to all of us, especially the "president".

George Bush hates quotation marks.

No, I said buying a dog--as in buying a dog in the middle of a more serious event purely to distract the media. I'll give you a hint...."Buddy".

Doesn't sound like a very entertaining orgy to me.

Yup, a war in the middle east, some of the largest gas price increases in history, two major hurricanes - one of which resulted in the evacuation of a major US city. Apparently these are less important than a blowjob. You heard it here first folks.

Seriously, the prez didn't buy a dog so let's cut the idiotic mudslinging.

Hey, I just had to say it. This Dubya fellow has set himself us to be percieved as either a towering genius, or an idiot. If I did that, I'd probably attempt to learn how to pronounce words correctly, make complete sentences and I wouldn't hold books upside down as I pretend to read them. The world may recognize him as the ultimate foreign relations genius. So far, that's not the consensus. So, letting the world know he's being briefed by an administering agency at least suggests he's interested in information. That seems like a new tactic for him.

Making long, droning sentences with lots of fancy words didn't work for Kerry. And the book thing is a photoshop.

You misunderestimate him because you want to think he's a total idiot.

Didn't he get better grades than the dems' poster boy from 2004?
