Shoot Ben, that thing is only worth about $200. If you want, I will come pick it up for that.
![]() Depending on how/when/by whom it was overhauled and whether it comes with acessories, logs, receipts etc, it is probably worth between 7-10K to most people. The above mentioned factors will really come into play when trying to sell it.

Who did the rebuild? Factory reman or a "name" shop like Mattituck or somebody else?
If no logs, I would guess about half the price Tim mentioned, to a homebuilder.

![]() Kent Pietsch does a "whacko pilot" routine in this one. (I just saw him perform at Oshkosh this year, it was humourous) During the routine they jetison one of the ailerons as part of the "whacko pilot" routine. He flies it up and down the runway pulling vertical from just off the deck and cross controls it all over the place while low and slow. It is pretty amazing to see actually.

Tim,
I don't know if you're into ultralights at all, but I've got a dozen or so sets of Phantom Chromoly Landing gear here, and probably a bunch of other stuff too (props etc..).

I still own a Minimax "ultralight" I built back in '93 but I mainly mess with experimentals and certifieds. Are you looking to unload some stuff cheap? If so, let me know, I might be interested or know someone else who is.

Ben,
Which dash number is it? -8's are not worth as much as a -12 because you cannot put a starter or generator on the -8 versions. With or without accessories? Mags, carbs and so on really increase the value. If its really zero time and you have the logs and its been pickled well and not sitting for a long time you are looking at $5 to $7k or so. I might be able to sell it for you. No charge as I am the webmaster of a airplane forum that used these old engines (Aeronca's) and would put an advert on for free if you wanted me to .... Here is a pic of mine with a C85-12 Joe A ![]()

Latest off of Ebay. Its a A65 upgraded to a A75. Your 90 hp engine should be worth at least $1000 more.
Asking $4500 If the URL does not work, its item 4567054988

One of my customers paid $9000.00 for an overhauled (by Lycon) A65 with new Millenium cylinders. I thought he was nuts but he wanted this engine for his show plane cub. He ended up paying me a couple more grand to paint (imron with clear, polished brass safety wire, ect ect and install it on his plane.
I checked Trade a Plane and A-65's 0 SMOH can be had for 6 grand. One company advertised that they would perform a complete O'haul with new cylinders for $8,800 for a C-85, C-90 or O-200. As was stated earlier, it really depends on many factors.

Tim brings up a good point. Cylinders for these old 4 banger Continental engines can be hard to find at times. Ballpark price on a overhauled (yellow tagged) set these days is $800 per assy. New ones can be found but not easily and these are over $1000 per cylinder.
If you have a "0" time engine its worth at least $4k in cylinders and such alone, without considering the crankcase. The A65 engines are in a bit of demand, but the C85, C90 and O-200 models bring a lot higher price. JoeA
