Any Reason Why GE Corp Jets Make Flights to Cuba on a Weekly Basis?

Was talking to a buddy a while back, said his brother inlaw was a corp pilot for GE and was making plenty of flights into Cuba - restricted airspace even. Been doing even before 9/11. Can't be for the stoogies - the Dominicans now roll a better puff. So why does GE do so many flights into Cuba?

Nope. Cuba is restricted and you can't work on the equipment nor sell replacement parts. And I never flew on a corp jet to an assignment....

I would bet that they are betting on the come. There will be a lot of business rebuilding the infrastructure of the island (something GE is good at) once the present management retires.

I have always thought it would be neat to visit Cuba and see all the old cars on the roads etc. but being an American citizen we aren't allowed. When I lived in So. Cal. I had a few friends that use to visit Cuba on a regular basis, but they were Mexican nationals and was ok for them.

Cuba is one of the top travel destinations for Canadians these days. Lots of Germans and other europeans hang there too.

Great beaches and people, very low crime rate, lots of gorgeous scenery. There is even some excellent hiking/camping in Cuba.

Oh, and it has been said... the absence of heavy tourist traffic (ie American) can also make it a refreshing change from certain other holiday destinations.

Cuba is just as packed with tourists as any other carribean island, and is far more "we're rich tourists/you're poverty stricken locals" than most.

Cuba is the third most popular winter destination over here, after the US and mexico. I have to admit that it is the most exotic because you feel like you are going back in time. First of all, there are no fast food restaurants or shopping center, wich is great.

Then there are all those old Americans cars, mostly in the big cities. If you stay in the tourist area you will see a lot of new European and Japanese cars, plus the infamous Lada.

Most of the tourists are either Canadians or European, mostly from Germany and Spain. Food are great if you like seafood and chicken. A rhum bottle is still $3.00. They have few good beers, some of them dont even have any logo on them, kind of home made.
