Dallas

Hey fellow Pelicanheads. I am thinking about moving to Dallas after I graduate college. I have been looking at SMU for law school/business school, and it seems like a great place. I was born in Dallas, but my family moved to Maryland when I was 2 yrs old (so I don;t have many memories). My father has been telling me that I can get the high quality city life at a reasonable cost (compared to DC, Boston, NYC). I know there are a few Dallas guys on here, and it is home to the Ruf Auto Centre, any good info for a prospective returning Texan?

OK porscheboy16, I work in Irving and live outside of Dallas. I have spent many many hours in and around SMU. I will tell you something that comes from many years travelling around the country, you will not find better looking grad students in all the world! That includes any school in Cali.

SMU is a very good school - the Cox Business school is also ranked in the top 25. You cannot beat the weather and the cost of living is very low comparitively speaking. The other upside is that many of the girls that go there are from some money. You can marry well but you will also have to make enough to keep her happy. The other upside is one of the best PCA's in the country!

If you decide to move to the big D, drop me a line.

Upside - Affordable housing, great food, beautiful women, and lots of loose money. Downside - Way hot in the summer, flat landscape.

Overall, Dallas is a great city.

Thanks for great info. My girlfriend and I are looking to move to the Big D next summer. I am either going to school full-time, work full-time, or part-time school w/ full-time work. We are visiting in October, and I might try to catch a Cowboys game (they play the Cardinals the weekend I am in town). I figured there isn't a better way to represent Texas (to my girlfriend) than to take her to a Cowboys game. She has never been to Texas, but she has heard great stories about the peoples/places that Dallas offers.

Dallas may be hotter (temperature wise), but I don't know if it is as humid as the Delmarva Penninsula in the summer.

Girlfriend - hmmm...

Well, I hope to God you guys are soulmates or something becasue this town has it's temptations for sure. Mind you, the Southern drawl coming from full pink lips attached to a blonde head resting on a frame that is bought with daddy cash is a very difficult thing to ignore!
