Looking for Help finding/making custom Avatar

I want to make my own Avatar but haven't found a source to take my own image and reduce it to a crisp 50x50 pixel image. My attempts just don't seem to work. Can someone share how it's done and/or where i could find some ready made Porsche avatars?

I'll set it up for you. Post the image you have to start with to this thread & I can reduce it.

Two choices:

1. Bring up a digital pic of your car in MS Photo editor. Crop it so that it is as square as you can get it. Then use the resize function to size it down to around 50x50, and upload it in your control panel as your new avatar.

2. Upload the original picture here and either I or someone else here can resize it for you.

You can download www.irfanview.com for free; it's very good. As Z-man said, crop it as square as you can. In the Image menu, select "resize/resample" and resize it to 50x50 pixels, or limit the larger dimension to 50 pixels if it's not square. Before you resize it, increase the DPI to say 200. Once you've resized it, open the Image menu again and select "sharpen." In the File menu, select "Save As" and leave the "Save quality" at 100 to start. The avatar needs to be 20K maximum in size.
