French Raise Terror Alert Level

PARIS, France (AFP-N) - In the wake of the Londin bombings, which
killed 54 people, French President Jacques Chirac has ordered his
country's terror alert level raised from "Run" to "Hide."

The only two higher terror alert levels in France are "Surrender" and
"Collaborate."

The increased level was precipitated by the recent fire which
destroyed one of France's white flag factories, thus disabling much of
their military.

France is actually one of the hardliners in Europe when it comes to fighting terrorism. You can interpret that any way you want.

Learning from France in tackling terrorism
Aug 11th 2005
From The Economist print edition

SINCE the London bombings, all European governments have been re-evaluating their counter-terrorism strategies. Many have been studying France, which has both experience of Islamist terrorism and a reputation for toughness. Right on cue, the French government has promised a new anti-terrorism law by the end of this month, designed to strengthen the hardline approach that it has put in place over the past ten years.…

Hard to believe for some people, but true actually. Obviously it is a separate thing from their storied military history, , but lots of people think that 9/11 could have been prevented if we had turned Zacharias Mousaui(sp?), the so called "20th hijacker" over to the French. (He was a French citizen living in the U.S.). He was already in U.S. custody, hence not able to participate in the acts of Sept. 11, 2001; if we sent him home they would have gotten the whole plot out of him. Then they would have asked him if he wanted his nuts back.

They are hardliners against terrorists in France but fully support them everywhere else.

A glance at the avatar provides a brief insight as to the author's source of inspiration*; whereas the spelling absolutely eliminates any question as to the depth of intellect**.

I certainly look forward to his next scathing white paper on how "poopy" Mssr. Chirac's pants are and that long awaited in-depth report about the army boots his mommy wears.

Welcome to Playground Central.

*sidebar- there was an actual funny article on the wire last week about him taking up golf. It was press released that he scored something like 9 holes-in-one on his first round. Now that truly is funny...

edit: ** side, sidebar- that joke about the drunk losing his car and his girlfriend; that was pretty much up there on chuckle meter too...
