G9Girl announces "Chain Reaction" an eZine for the G9 Girl
Fellow Pelicanites: Shaun and I wanted to let you be among the first to know about the latest G9Girl venture: Chain Reaction.
Chain Reaction is an innovative online eZine, designed to connect, inform and give a voice to all girls, everywhere. Written by girls for girls, Chain Reaction is edited by Courtney Mc Clellan and designed by Marissa Cataldo with editorial direction provided by its readers. Almost any subject is allowed, and, in fact, encouraged. The first issue covers a wide range of stories. Features include a touching story that will be a true inspiration to anyone: Lacy Conlan, who at age 17, was diagnosed with brain cancer. There is also an in-depth exposé of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Light-hearted, fun stories provide fashion tips, showcase vacation photos, and getting back into mental shape for school this fall. For the career woman in mind, Chain Reaction has an interview with Allison Schechter, who at 22, has started her own makeup line, Allison Eve. Chain Reaction is the centerpiece in G9Girl’s mission to build an interactive community around the brand. The eZine is about each young woman sharing her experiences, ideas and goals to inspire other girls to pursue their own ambitions and follow their dreams as they grow into adulthood. Chain Reaction is also a vehicle to announce the latest G9Girl events, such as scholarship programs and charity doll drives (see page 11 for our first doll drive in NJ), in addition to other community-minded events. Please have a look at Chain Reaction. You can either read it online or download it in PDF format. If you have a daughter or know some young woman who may enjoy the issue, please pass it along. Who knows, she may want to contribute her own story for the next issue! Thank you. ![]() Last edited by dd74; 08-19-2005 at 03:20 PM.. |

Okay, I'm going to be man enough to comment. Ezine sounds great. I read that tanning article too. Crap, it looks like my skin isn't going to be too healthy later on. The article about the girl with the brain tumor was touching. Looks great Shaun and DD. Good Job!

So...You can get brain tumors from tanning?
That explains a lot...

![]() 86 - thanks for the kudos. Yes, they're good articles, particularly considering the age of the girls who wrote them. Island - yes, I want comments from you guys, just as '86 did. 'Course, as he said, he's man enough... ![]() |

I read once that 50% of female reading in the US is those paperback romance novels. There are pros who write much of this stuff.
That said, I would expect your audience is all formula, whatever that is, and success is good management?

As for formula, the only formula resides in that girls are the writers - and though the articles are aimed at other girls, it looks like a couple guys on this thread have also found interest in the articles, which is not entirely intriguing. Tanning is fairly much without gender and/or an age segment. The same can be said for brain cancer. To quote PWD72's brashly astute and overly simplified claim of "special," sans the "rolling eyes," yes, Chain Reaction does have that inkling to it, particularly as these stories are as good as anything that can be read in many daily newspapers. |

I just read an article stating that this year's incoming college freshman class will be the most wired ever. It goes on to say that young people's social lives are very dependant upon technology to connect with their friends through the internet, texting, cell phones, etc. They make friends online even before spending one night on campus through web sites like thefacebook.com.
I believe this trend continues and more and more young people will be connected through various technologh devices and that they will play even bigger parts in their lives. I think you have a pretty clever marketing scheme with things like the G9 name derived from texting and now a new e-zine. You seem to have the made the advertising thrust in the right direction. It will be interesting to watch as this business venture progresses. Good luck with it. Dan
