New car on the road, GM?

I am always up to date on the new cars being put out. I get Motor Trend and some other mags. I saw this car in traffic yesterday and never heard a thing about it. Looks like a modern Sedan Delivery GMC.

That truck/thing is in the latest C&D. It is a GM product and they SWEAR up and down that it is not their answer to the PT Cruiser. It is built on the Cobalt platform and is, as are all of GM's first efforts, underpowered and overweight. I think it is the HHR, although I don't know what that stands for.

OK. I know way too much about the worst car company in the world.

That's a Chevy HHR, kind of a small, retro Suburban. It's based on the all-new Cobalt. Seems to get decent reviews.

You can get an optional engine with it that has about 170 hp. With 3200 lbs, it's probably about as quick as a 944, and not far behind most vanilla compacts.

Internally they jokingly call it the "Me2Cruiser".

I saw one recently and wondered as well. My wife, who knows/cares zero about cars, states "It's a copy of the PT Cruiser"..lol

Actually, I really don't care for the PT at all. This seems to pull off the retro theme a bit better. BTW, has Chevy sold one of those hideous SSRs yet?

Should be the McCruiser. It looks like it is designed for the drive up window.

Yes. Unfortunately.

I actually think it's kinda cool. BUT...........................................A
little late for an answer to the PT Cruiser, isnt it fellas?
SSR's---I see them all the time around here. Loud exhaust but can't get out of it's own shadow. What a joke!!!!! Not that I condone street racing but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Embarrassed one from a stoplight the other day with the ol' SC. Of course it must hard to drive when you are leaning so far over to the passenger's side you might as well be sitting in the middle of the seat.

Bob Lutz isn't doing much for GM. I'm more a GM guy that Ford or Dodge, but so far GM has fallen behind the other two on good stuff. The latest vette is a great performer, but that's all that they have going for them.

I'll probably get kicked off the board for this but I kind of like the styling of the new Malibu...the hatch back looking deal.

Oooooo --- so tempted to hit the BAN button after that remark...

Next you're gonna say the Aztek was cool. In it's own way.

You're hoping I say yes to the Aztek so you can ban me. Right?

No go. I even heard Stevie Wonder hates the look of it.

The Asstek was designed by a crazed French woman (or so I hear). Functionally it's better than your average minivan, I guess it was aimed at DINKs. Has a nifty detachable tent-thingy. Visually it's a monstrous abortion. Performance-wise it's a turd.

The SSR is a worthless POS but it's cool to watch the top go up and down.

The HHR, like previously stated, is the Me2Cruiser. As for it being late...consider that the Pontiac Solstice is intended to get in on the modern 2-seat roadster craze. That started with what, the Miata?

GM isn't exactly known for being agile.

Keep in mind...with every new GM vehicle, you get a FREE BLACK BOX! It's kind of like having a state trooper riding with you at all times, his ticket book in hand....
