What am I doing wrong with searching on the forum?

Trying to search for "3.6 conversion" in the 911 tech section and keep getting this error message : "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. "

Problem is that I know that there are several 3.6 conversion threads!

Trying to find out what everyone is doing for sway bars on their converted cars but cannot find the threads!

thx,

Joe A

I wonder if the search engine pukes on the "." in 3.6.

Does putting quotes around the term "3.6 conversion" work?

FYI, the quotes around the period didn't work, Chris. Ref. my post preceding yours.

I ran into the same thing when searching for 3.2 valve issues, and asked Wayne about it. The search function won't take any search terms that are shorter than three numbers/letters. If I remember correctly, it's because smaller terms would make the search function much slower.

Jim, when I search for "3.6 conversion" the search engine changes it to "3.6" conversion and still finds nothing!

Do not understand this at all...

Joe, here's what I think is going on (need Wayne to confirm/deny):

When you enter 3.6, the search engine ignores the "." between the "3" and the "6" and then it gives up on the search because "36" is too short of a word or phrase, based on Wayne setting the search engine to look for entries of at least three characters in length.

Does this sound plausible?

The search engine works for my test: 3.6x. I think my explanation above is right on the money. Not that it helps you any. Sorry about that.

Eureka! Joe, use the following to search: 3*6

The "*" is a wildcard character which will pick up the "." and give you the desired 3-character minimum search term.
