How Long Before This Happens Here?

A disconcerting thread on FerrariChat.com right now. One of the F-Chatters had his $150,000 550 Maranello at the Concorso Italiano yesterday and it was keyed - right at the show! The owner is positive it was another F-Chatter he has argued with repeatedly in their "Politics & Religion" forum - the subjects and 'discussions' there are pretty much identical to the Off-Topic section here ....... the cast of characters are all the same, only the names are different.

Unbelievable. Some people take this stuff waaaay too seriously.

"How Long Before This Happens Here? "

I don't want to even think it's a possibility happening to anyone.

island911 08-20-2005 09:17 PM

Well I'm just glad that I've never pissed-off any up-tight petty posters on this board. It really pays to have such bland, non-provoking posts like mine.

Seriously, a key-scratch (or whatever) is the mark of a defeted weasel. They can't win the argument so they look for something that they can "win" at. --Happens all the time, in different forms.

Well, crap.

I know a LOT of weasels...

nostatic 08-20-2005 09:59 PM

yeah, but the defeted (sic) ones are really rare...

dd74 08-20-2005 10:26 PM

A good weasel will do that...

island911 08-20-2005 10:30 PM

Thats right! :D, a good weasel is a defeted weasel. (have your weasel defeted)

Once defeted they stay away from outdoor entertainment such as car shows.

fete also fête (f³t, fµt) n. 1. A festival or feast. 2.a. An elaborate, often outdoor entertainment. b. An elaborate party. --tr.v. fet·ed also fêt·ed, fet·ing fêt·ing, fetes fêtes. 1. To celebrate or honor with a festival, a feast, or an elaborate entertainment. 2. To pay honor to. [French fête, from Old French feste. See FEAST.]

. . and for Godsake DONT give them keys.

Even though its my favorite waste of time, I wouldn´t cross the Atlantic packing my keys. Your cars are safe. ;)

I've been a lurker on FChat for a couple of years and I'd say that incident is an abberation. And so I don't think it is particularly likely to happen here or, for that matter, happen again over there. The laws of probability suggest that over time any group of people, no matter how well-behaved and mature, will eventually attract an assclown or two. But I'd say it is much less likely to happen here or FChat than almost anywhere else.

Geez, we must be on the very very long end of the odds....we have more than our fair share here...;)

Oh, and I've never had one of my cars keyed. I did have dog$hit smeared all over the front of the 911 Superbowl Sunday, 2004...

COLDBASS 08-21-2005 11:59 AM

Why cant they just settle it the old fashion way and bare knuckle it in the parking lot?

Or just forget about the whole thing. Life is too short. Maybe it's a matter of the higher the price of the car, the less behaved the enthusiast is.

My God! What next? Soon you will see pictures of classic sports car gatherings marred by the presence of a black Audi wagon in their midst. Oh the humanity!

Marge, don't discourage the boy! Weaseling out of things is
important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals! Except the weasel --- Homer Simpson
