opening locked car with cell phone??

forwarded to me:

"If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone on your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person at your home press the unlock button of your key fob (clicker), holding
it near the phone on their end. Your car doors will
unlock. Distance is no object , and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors
(or the trunk!)."

Anyone tried this?

Well, the remote uses radio waves to send a signal to the car.

I guess if you had a cellphone that transmitted radio waves it would work

This chain email tip was so good that it worked on my SC. And it doesn't even have remote door locks!

Snopes rules.

However, have you tried this one? Walk out of range for your keyless remote, and make sure it doesn't work. Then hold it to your chin with your face towards the car and press the button... the car will unlock/lock! Supposedly your cranium directs/focuses the radio waves.

I've tried it and it worked for me (although I felt like an idiot doing it!).

Yep, I do that all the time, Allen. I hold it up to my throat and aim my mouth at it. Not sure if aiming is necessary
Almost triples the distance.

I used to do this all the time. Actually on my previous car, I had a remote starter installed and would start the car from a few hundred feet away and she would be ready to go when I got there. I also used this just to freak people out standing by my car.

You may want to try one of these in conjunction with the above procedure...

Aiming isn't required. It's just using your body as an antenna, much like when you were a kid and tried adjusting the rabit ears on the TV, the channel worked great while you were holding the antenna, but when you moved away the channel went fuzzy again.

This practice even works with the newer higher mhz transmitters... I don't know if it works with the AM or FM transmitters though.
