				Advertising Boards etiquette question

Guys, I'm feeling a bit bad right now. You see, I placed a WTB ad on the 944 classifieds, asked people to respond by PM. For some reason, Pelican did NOT flag me when the PM's were coming in. Yes, I had the flag me notice checked. Anyway, one guy posted, I thinking he was the only response. I PMed him, saying I'd buy...then I noticed all the others who had PMed me in response. Trying to be fair, I'm thinking I'll just go down the list, first come, first serve? I did send another PM, asking the first guy to disregard my PM...this before he responded. So, did I do the right thing, the wrong thing? As you can tell, I don't use or visit the classifieds a lot. Here's the link:

WTB Aluminum 944 Scissors jack (edit)...I did reply to all who PMed me, explaining that I wasn't flagged, that I'm going with the "first come, first served" idea...

Your the buyer - buy the "best" one offered, whether it is the first or last. Now if you were sellign, then first come first served would be fair to tbe buyers

I wouldn't worry about this one too much, Paul. It is polite of you to be concerned, but no one is going to get over-excited about selling you a used jack, (or not), and anyways you should buy the best one/best deal regardless of order of reply.

It's lucky in a way, haven't you ever bought a part and then a better deal comes along right after?

Hey, the beauty of a WTB ad is that the sellers come to you to compete instead of the other way around. It can get dicey if you try playing one against the other...be careful if you go that route.

Thanks guys...I've sent a numbers offer to the first guy to respond. If that doesn't work out, I'll go down the list in order of PM received. Not looking to overpay, but not bargain hunting either. Anyway, your responses have made me feel better. Didn't want to get the reputation of being one of the classifieds bad guys...
