Anybody seen the Mazda5?
We have a Mazda3 and are very happy with it. Yesterday we got a certificate in the mail for a $35 Blockbuster gift card if we'd take a Mazda5 test drive. Ummm... OK. There's a Mazda dealer very close by.
I have to say I was skeptical. It looked like a minivan in the pics. In person it's smaller. It's sort of between a minivan and a compact wagon, but has dual sliding doors. Seating is 2x2x2. With the back seats folded down there's lots of cargo space. It has the same engine as the Mazda3. The added weight and automatic transmission made the engine seem weak by comparison, but it was OK. The 4 speed Tiptronic transmission was fun. The one I drove was maxed out with sunroof and navigation ($2000) and stickered at $22K. I have to say this may be our next vehicle. ![]()

I work for Ford and test drove a Mazda 5 SportWagon last fall, it was incredible and I really wanted to lease the car, but it was a little too small for us and the lease price for a 2 year lease was ridiculous. Drive the car, it's really nice and handles great!

I'd be embarrassed to be seen driving that.
