Anybody up for starting a Yahoo FF League? We will need about a dozen teams... post here if you are up for it! The smell of Pigskin is in the air...and thats not just your sport seats!

random non live draft works best to avoid getting everyone together at the same time. I believe that you rank your players first and the computer drafts based on these rankings.

We need 7 more. I will sign up a league over at Yahoo and call it "Pelican Pigskins" or something corny like that. Any of you guys want to be the commissioner? or Der Kommissar?

It is always hard to get leagues formed. Diminish the size to 10 and let people know the cost and how often they have to get involved. We could start one on fanball commissioner for 60 bucks, everyone kicks in 6 bucks. If you need a commissioner there I could do it, I've done it a few times. The issue is collecting the money before my wife notices it gone...

Fanball, espn, cbssportsline, or yahoo is fine with me. But some of those other ones I mentioned were free.

i don't think there will be money involved, unless sonic has intimated that?? the pre-season started last night and i expect the fever to start in and this will be a popular league.

Did you start the league, or are you still on the feeler stage? Which of these free leagues is the simplest to use? Which provides the most detailed information for players?

i went through the yahoo process and got a league started, "pelican pigskin" it's called. if anyone who wants in send me a PM for the league number and password.

the password is NOT tabs, r-gruppe, or wayne. i thought about "island", or "mark wilson" but thought better in the end.

i did a 10 team league, the first 8 ( got to reserve a spot for sonic since it was his brainchild) that will pledge to keep at it all year are in. i say "keep at it" because if a team is not tended to it leaves a void in the league.

i did the freebie yahoo deal with a dispersal draft with the default scoring and rules. it cost to get all the bells and whistles. for those of you that have never done it, it's fun and only takes a few minutes a week to submit a line up. you can pick up/track, look up stats on players, make trades, track weekly scoring & standings. if everything falls right you just might be the pelican pigskin FF champ, and recieve all that the title includes.

lenn, i can put my political differences aside long enough to whoop your ace at some fantasy football. whats you say?

and oh yeah, it's a free league!

I was thinking originally about a free league, playing just for fun and bragging rights.

So the Yahoo League is auto draft... thats where you rank your players in advance right? Usually that works out to be fair for everyone involved.

in that particular Yahoo setting be careful. For some reason it'll draft a bunch of suckers for defense...if you're playing with defense (which is pretty fun). I don't remember now but I'm pretty sure you can set draft order too (in addition to ranking players). Sometimes they'll draft a TE in the beginning rounds when what you really want are a few RBs.

Good stuff though...

Tody, thanks for stepping up to commission the league. May I suggest a few things?

1) Since we only have a 10 person league, it maybe more fun to add the flex positions of TE/WR and WR/RB. This will keep less people on the bench and more people playing for points.

2) I think the default for scoring is by whole numbers only, but sometimes its fun to win by a few tenths one week to beat anther guy.

I too will add a comment, keep the players simple (no independant def players) and do a real draft! You can do drafts that are totally online and can take a week to complete (no need to all meet at once).

guys, it would have cost $25 a player, or $125 for the league to do one with all the options you guys describe. as i said, i went with most of the default options, and as sonic and i posted above we will do the random dispersal draft.

you can rank players to sway the randomness of the draft.

you will get a whole defense to play every week, and can keep up to three on your roster.

if one of you guys wants to set up the league with the options you guys descibe we can scrap the one ive started?? my feelings wont be hurt in the least, i just figured a free league with simple scoring and team draft would suffice after the lukewarm response to this thread.

i think this will be fun no matter how we slice it. let the games begin.

no problem. salazar has got some ideas on getting it tweaked a bit more. i will attempt to get him in as a co-commissioner so he might customize things, while it will remain free.

have you guys been able to access the league with the info i provided in the PM?
