English Bulldogs
I am considering adopting a 2yr old English Bulldog female from a family that is moving and can't take the dog with them. I already have a 4yr old Boxer female. Are English Bulldogs all the trouble my vet makes them out to be as health problems, snoring, drooling? Any questions I should ask the current owners? Advice? TIA

Can't comment on the trouble aspect, but before you take the dog make sure your Boxer meets the new dog away from home to make sure they get along.

They fart. A lot.
Just out of curiousity why would you value our opinion over that of the person that you trust with your pets health and well being? Any Bulldog owners will naturally tend to be more biased than your vet whos sees all breeds and types and should be more objective. Sounds like your vet is simply trying to make sure you know what your getting yourself into sooner rather than later. Enjoy your new friend and as Ron said make sure the boxer gets on with the bulldog or it could be a nightmare. Scott

I used to own an English Bulldog. I loved him to death, but I think I was the only person who could keep him under control. I will never have another one. Not a dog for everyone.
Ive been lucky enough to have a lot of boxers as well. I would definitely have another boxer. |

We have had pugs for over 20 years and bought an English Bullbog last November. They about the same issues, sensitive skin, gas, snorting and snoring and they shed some. On the plus side he is absolutely dedicated to me and sits at the end of the driveway when I am working on the car and watches out for me. He is great with our grandson and granddaughter and I am sure glad we got him.

This is Mugzy. They do have their fair share of health problems (so do most pure bred animals) as stated before. They have an excellent disposition, and make great pets. Given the proper diet, most of the problems can be alleviated. I recommend Wellness if you decide to get him. Mugzy had allergic reactions to certain foods and Wellness (recommended by another bulldog owner) was just the ticket.

Rocky.
He snores, he farts, hs bad dreams, he pees on things if he's upset / left alone too long. His tounge hangs out when he sleeps - he looks like he belongs in a Ren and Stimpy cartoon. But, he's loyal. That's what matters. rjp

Man I just love your pics! My folks had one when I was a mere pup, and I can remember bawling my eyes out when it had to be put down.
Yep, they do snore, they tend to drool, and can be rather agressive towards strangers, although I think they lean more towards intimidation than harm, as ours never once bit (or even tried to bite) anyone. Ours had huge skin problems, but this went away after my folks followed the advice of feeding him pumpkin of all things, mixed into his regular staple.
