Saudis- will they help?
The Saudis are making billions if not 100 of billions of dollars with oil around $70. Since America is buying a lot of their oil, wouldn't it be nice if they diverted some of their profit and sent a couple of billion to help those affected by Katrina?
What are the odds? |
I say raise the price of food and water to these A-holes, we should have been doing that a long time ago. It is much easier to go without oil than food and water!!

I am a little curious to see how well pure capitalism is received now their is a (perceived?) need for uncapitalistic behaviour.

OPEC is going to have to up their production to help reduce prices. Once prices hit a certain point (and they won't go back down...much) it'll become cost effective to once again work on refining oil shale, pumping from US oil fields, and developing truly non-petroleum fuels.
This is probably the worst thing that could've happened for OPEC. But hey, the middle men are happy. |
Nah, not really. I'm not that silly :D.

The area will draw contractors with work teams from all over the country. Everyone will find all the work he can handle. Recent Florida is a model. The very old and stupid are especially vulnerable to hustlers. Supply and demand for workers raises the cost to consumers of doing business big time. I bet a guy with an electric and AC license combo with 4-8 workers could become a millionaire quick. How about the municipal worker that will get 40hrs of overtime a week for a yr or two.. then he retires with management level pay checks every month.
That there is a US energy policy failure is the fault of the US voters. Chuck Shummer from NY has been sounding like the proverbial hack on national mass media over this horror. He didn't say anything about the Supremes and the confirmation in a few days.. maybe he senses better relection action down south? |
