$2.99 in STL just now.
Said $3.09 tomorrow.
Why the nines?
Asked why the increase if the gas is already in the ground?
"I just work here, dude..."

Saw Atlanta news....people lined up around the block for gas, anticipating a shortage....self-fullfilling prophesy

Jersey went up $.5 per gallon overnight. Clearly gouging in the name of preparing for their cost increases. Some State AGs are starting to investigate.

The US still pays the lowest gas prices in the world but this really is an obvious manipulation. Another gas crisis? Well if so I'm guessing it will be contrived but short lived and we will probably see prices settle in around $3

I honestly don't mind paying a fair price for anything but I resent being openly manipulated with no recourse but to bend over and take it.

If loosing one port in the US is all it takes to bring this country to its knees I cannot imagine how fragile we are here.

I can bet terrorists are taking notes right now.

I own a land surveying company. Instead of buying burly 4x4 trucks I purchased Toyota 2x4 trucks in an effort to use less gas. They get 18MPG and while not stellar it is better than the 12 and less mpg the 4x4 trucks get.

If we have a shortage here I am in trouble. I have instructed my crews not to let their tanks go below 1/2. I am going to order a 55 gallon drum of fuel tomarrow to be deliverdd to my shop and add stabilizer to it just in case. If we run out of gas here I will be dead in the water.

This is utter bull*****. I cannot believe one port is taking out the country like this.

Where are those f*cking electric cars we were told we would have by now 20 years ago!! Ponderous.

But that's just it. One port is not that critical. This is a convenient excuse to ass stab us again.

"We" laughed them out of the showrooms and complained about Suburbans being too cramped and underpowered. Ain't payback a b!tch?!

I cackled maniacally the whole time I filled up the F150 today, $70. Sure wish my ****ing Porsche was painted, so I can take my 100l tank off the shelf and slap it in there for some good fun $85 fillups.

Toyota, are you listening? Course not, but just in case: We NEED a diesel-powered small to mid-size truck!!! I averaged 16 mpg over 400 miles in a Dodge Cummins truck (7000 lbs) and 210 miles of the 400 miles was while towing a 5500 lbs of tractor + trailer.

Take a long weekend, guys. Let's hope things come back to orbit by next Tuesday.

Diesel here just hit $3 a gallon its the same price a premium. Af course a diesel get ways better gas milage so its a good trade huh?

We joked about getting some horses today and pulling some buggies around town to perform our jobs. Somehow its not too funny and almost concievable.

Ahhh, but the emissions requirements just adopted by all three of the west's coastal states? Kiss diesel, kiss "biodiesel" adios...neither could possibly comply with these rules. Get the drift guys? The future is freedom of movement supplied only by the government. In other words, not much freedom of movement at all.

Flatbutt, you're right. In the past couple of years they finished disassembling the last of the 3 refineries within a 20 mile radius from where I live. All the precious EPA permits, all of the critical trained personnel wasted (and we really need jobs around here, so Wal Mart moved in and took up the slack). If refining capacity was at such a premium this wouldn't have happened. I have come to believe this whole shortage/price increase is contrived.

Fortunately we have hybrids which for a few thousand extra will get roughly the same milage as a Geo Metro did 15 years ago.

Let's get this back on topic. This is a serious problem for us here in NC. It's just not Western NC... it will be the whole state in a few days. Read here:

http://www.wral.com/apncnews/4921436/detail.html

90% of the gas coming into NC is controlled by 2 pipelines. They were shut off on Monday. No one said a thing until today! Best case scenaro for a return to flow is Sat or Sunday.

Most stations only hold 4-5 days worth so most of NC will be w/o gas for a few days. The piedmont area will run out a bit later then the mountain part of the state but we'll also get resupplied at a later date.

This is a SERIOUS problem for this state. It's not that gas costs $X.XX. Our problem is that we won't have any gas at all!
