May have lost my 930 to Katrina!

Hey all, just wanted to drop a line and let you guys know that my family and I got out of Mandeville before the storm hit. We're in Dallas right now with no idea of how long it will be before we can get back home. We have lost all contact with our family members that decided to stay. My dog Woody was left behind at my mother-in-law's who also refused to leave. We have no way of finding out if they are still alive.

I brought my 930 back to Greff Motors in Jefferson, LA on Monday of last week to have him rebalance the tires. As of Friday that week the storm was predicted to hit Florida. I woke up on Saturday and the news was telling us that the storm was headed right towards us. We packed everything we could during the day Saturday. I was unable to contact Randy Greff to go get my car. I have no idea about it's condition. I'm hoping he pulled it into the shop and put it on a lift. Even then it's going to depend on how much water invades the city due to the levee breaks. Fingers are crossed.

I'm assuming his insurance will be paying for my car if it is indeed submerged in New Orleans. The car was worth much more than blue book as it is a collectors car with only 47,000 miles on it. I would assume that I will have a fight on my hands to get what my car is worth from his insurance. Any help in dealing with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so sick I can't even begin to convey my feelings right now. The most important thing is that my family and I are safe. The scary thing is not knowing what I'm going to do to support my family now. I'm effectively out of work and a place to live right now. We'll be filing a cliam with FEMA to try and get some monetary help. We'll have to wait and see if a cliam will be needed for my home.

I pray for the families of Louisiana and Mississippi. God help you all.

Keep that in the front of your mind and don't let this beat you down. There is a day in the future when all of this will be behind you.

My relatives live in Madison and Mandaville and their homes are dry. One of them lives on Bayou Perez Dr, a water front lot, and his garage stayed dry. I heard from him at 2:00 pm today. He will keep me updated

That's some terrific news. Hopefully, the family, dog and Turbo are all OK. We need some good endings here.

Ditto what the others said; this disaster is so huge that anything other than life and limb is inconsequential, IMO. This is just biblical in proportion.

This does not negate the innumerable smaller losses, such as possibly your car, I had actually thought about all of the vehicles lost and the effect on insurance companies+ the new/used car markets, etc...

Maybe you lucked out on the car, but I really hope that you lucked out w/ your family members and the dog. Y'all are in my prayers.

What the others said. It's especially bad since you just got the car & it may be taken away so soon. Hope everything turns out well.

I hope all turns out well for you, your family, dog and friends. As has been said material things can be replaced and most likely will but sentient beings are irreplaceable. My best wishes to you. Take care.

Best regards,

Good luck man... This is one tough situation. Money and stuff can be replaced. The Fam and the kritters cannot...

Blessings to you and your family, and hopefully, your car will be good to go too.
