anyone else going through a bad vehicle (or other) stretch?
 

Subie gets stolen 2 weeks ago, then recovered but missing parts. Still in the shop waiting for me to get a 4-page questionarrie notarized and insurance cut a check and then took it back because I hadn't set the questionnaire in yet (and they didn't even check with me on the amount...still have to touch base with the dealer).

Last night I'm riding the bike home from a long ride and smell gas. Get home and notice a few drops. Check it this AM and the fuel supply fitting at the tank is leaking. I move it and it starts a small river. Luckily there is only about a gallon in the tank. Have to flatbed it to the dealer tomorrow as its under warranty (and I think this actually was a recall issue).

Add that to having to go on nexium for really bad acid reflux (never had a problem before), although I see my cardiologist tomorrow "just in case" for another stress test.

Oh yeah...and two speeding tickets in August. I was hoping Sept. was going to be a better month. Ha! :p

I just had to sink 3K into my '01 Volvo s60--same day I pick it up I'm getting gas and the gas door snaps off. My 911 suddenly has no idle. Not as bad as a stolen car I guess.

I think it is coming to terms with the fact that you're my biological father. I've been fighting the buffet for so long, I'm just tired. I think I'm going to give into the "sterno side."

RIGHT NOW a horse lays dying in my neighbor's yard.

She's a 30-35 year old mare. Don't know who owns her (neighbor doesn't own a horse, not since 2003 anyway--and nobody knows where he is and he hasn't been seen for days).

There's 3 sheriff's deputies, a bunch of neighbors holding umbrellas (also keeping her cool with water, ice, etc.), and a poor beastie who's just about given up the ghost.

I was out there for the past 3 hours, haven't even had a bite to eat until now. Gonna cram down some food and head out again to see if I can help out in any way. We keep trying to get her to stand up. Succeeded once but she was so shaky she just slumped down again.

Animal control isn't coming (according to the sheriff), so no emergency vet either. Somebody's gonna have to pay for the rendering service.

This is a bad day for all of us I think.

Update (not that anyone gives a *****): Our glorious LEOs left. Property owner came home, he's never seen the horse before. Looks like the poor thing was abandoned. Hopefully the sheriff will come back, this time with a vet who can make the call to put the horse down and haul her away.

People SUCK. :mad:

Update: The vet came, put the horse down (took a while--she had very little bloodflow in the end), and now they've craned her out of my neighbor's yard.

On top of it he's saddled (NPI) with the vet and rendering bill, since the sheriff's dept. is calling this an "abandonment" case and not "animal cruelty". WTF? Of course we're all pitching in to help out, but some ********* out there is getting away with this scot-free.

People suck. Did I mention that? :mad:

how long since someone first noticed the horse? was it skinny, and sick looking? who called the authorities?

Apparently it was dropped off by a "portly dark-haired lady in a white truck with a small trailer" (other neighbor's mother's words). This was mid-day on Saturday. She didn't think anything of it because she's, well 80 or something and new to the neighborhood.

The guy whose pasture the horse went down in was up north until about 2PM today. His pasture connects to the property where the horse was ditched. The property where the horse was ditched was bought by a shady RE "investor" (read: *********) who tried to move his extermination business into the house until we called the county on him (he was storing all of his chems on property). Shady guy never locked up gates or anything so the person who ditched the horse had no trouble walking in, dropping her off, and bailing out.

I saw the horse Saturday evening. She was walking around fine as I drove past, and I thought, "Hm, neighbor has a new horse he's boarding". Didn't think anything of it.

Neither did anyone else until we found her covered in sweat near the road. :mad:

Does the four use the same fuel tank fittings as the triple? I know they had a recall to replace crummy plastic fittings with metal ones.

I've been dealing with AR for years now. Doc says I have one of those lazy valves and need surgery. I take Prilosec everyday (Costco has good deals on stuff). Tagamet used to work but not any more. I really need to get the surgery. If not controlled it can lead to big problems. It's worst for me when my stomach is empty.

It all started when I bought the M3

1. 1995 M3, with me driving hits some big hunk of metal on the highway at 85mph, $1000 damage, I do all the work, new bumper, new rad, new condensor, new AC pump (while I amin there) new aux fan, new clutch fan, new thermostat housing, driving lights, ....

2. 2001 Dodge Ram, while picking up the M3 the hitch on the trailer does ont latch correctly, so when loading the car, the trailer pops off the hitch and puts a nice dent and scrape in the tailgate of my truck

3. 1988 Carrera, wife misjudges an exit and spins if off the road, full 360, pops two wheels off the rims, scratches the pain on barb wire, hits a trailer with the front bumper and shifts it about 1.5 inches, ripping the bumper shocks off the nose.

4. 2001 Dodge Ram, wife's truck runs out of diesel, cost $300 at Dodge to get the "diagnose" what we told themwas the problem, and then prime the pump.

5. 1995 M3 gets broadside by a transport trunk moving about 5 mph, insurance (finnally) paided for repairs, new bumper (again) new fender, new door, new quarter

6. Toyo Cup 911, racing a friends car in an enduro, motor blows out a rod bolt with me behind the wheel, punches a hole in the case.

7. 2001 Dodge Ram wifes truck takes a stone in the windshield, big crack, replace windshield

8. 1988 Carrera, wife rearends a new VW bug, $9K damage, new fenders, hood, bumper, replace the nose, new lights, etc.....

all this in about 6 months,

ok my hell.

adopted dog that doesnt like small kids. next door neighbor turns his house into a daycare. it has been hell. fence building, new windows on the house, dog training,...and constant worry about lawsuits, and hurt children. i am in a bad place.

1st/2nd gear went in the 84 a bit ago, car was tapped in the rear 1 year ago. Currently:

Chris Bennet is helping to rebuild the transmission

New clutch just came in

I got the flywheel and rear main seal off yesterday

Pulled the bumper, rear lights and drilled out spot welds on center lens panel.

restoration design panel coming in

found a bad CV boot, need to fix that.

I need to:

Fill wholes in rear cross member
weld in new lens panel
get rear bumper back in
finish up transmission
get flywheel cut and new seal, pilot bearing, clutch back on
get and install left axel
get motor and trans back in
check, adjust...

I'm thinking I may have the car back on the road by the end of the month. :(
