FEMA head: Has this been covered yet?
You can read and think about the ramifications of this appointment:

Only in about 4 threads so far, but hey.
He'll probably get The Medal of Freedom like Tenet did. |
It's all politics. Perhaps next time a President makes a "thanks for your support" appointment, it will be for the Ambassador to the Bahamas or B.V.I.
Seems like important positions should be given to professionals. |
Seriously, if he was the Deputy Director...and did a good job, why would you not appoint him as the Director when the job became available?
|
Seriously, why did you appoint him as deputy director in the first place, with zero relevant experience? Did you apply that same demanding standard to the decision to promote him? Was that promotion based on as much of a "good job" as the great job he is doing now (Commander-In-Chief publicly said last week "you're doing a great job, Brownie"). Brownie, eh, does it stand for brown-nose? Seriously.
Edit: sorry, I misquoted the President. What he actually said was ""Brownie, you're doing a helluva job. The FEMA director is working 24 hours a day." " |

In the link I posted, I loved the part where Kate Hale, former Miami-Dade emergency management chief, referred to Brown's background in charge of running an Arabian horse association,
"He's done a hell of a job, because I'm not aware of any Arabian horses being killed in this storm...." It seems Hale possesses a sardonic sense of humor. I like. Sherwood |
Yeah, funny as a crutch....It is sad how the liberals seem to want to take advantage of the situation...and makre fun of it. It seems that Mr. Brown is much more qualified than the mayor...who is responsible for the evacuation of the city. Perhaps a look at Mayor Nagin's bio is also in order.

Flint,
When a federal dept. screws up big time (either side), as it appears in this case, they're open to criticism. As it currently stands, FEMA isn't the only entity to blame here, just in this particular thread. I'm sure there's plenty of blame to share, from local officials all the way up the govt and private sector ladder. The next few months should reveal a more objective story. Hopefully, they'll leave the white wash behind. Your loyalty is admirable under the circumstances. Sherwood |
