Find a Date on Pelican Parts? Does anybody else get this?

When I go to my PMs, I get this at the bottom. She is pretty hot for sure! When I click on it (for scientific reasons only), I get the next image. Does everyone get this?

nope. It's spyware.

M.D. Holloway 09-07-2005 08:12 AM

serious?

Rot 911 09-07-2005 08:15 AM

I don't think it is spyware. Wayne is now running "ads by google" at the bottom of each page. I just haven't been lucky enough to get the good ones.

It's only you Mike -

mana from heaven...maybe it's one of those special sites that only few get access to, like the model bar on Sienfeld that was a packing house during the day.

If you prefer not to view Google ads, add the following lines to your hosts file:

127.0.0.1 pagead1.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead3.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead4.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead5.googlesyndication.com

I think that eliminated most of them.

Can you really search 1,000,000 intimate profiles for free?! lol

Moses 09-07-2005 08:49 AM

Mozilla Firefox doesn't show the ads.

My Mozilla Firefox does. At the very bottom of every page.

And if anyone believes that women who look like that are trolling the internet looking for random knuckleheads, all I can say is watch out for the Nigerians and their cashier's checks.

didn't that new guy from FLA "likemystoppie" find some chick from the UK on line on one of these things?

livi 09-07-2005 12:08 PM

I actually hooked up with a chick I met here, solving some of her car problems

if everyone clicks on either a text or a picture ad once in a while, it will help pelican pay for this site etc ....
I have used google ads before, and it pays pretty good if you have alot of traffic.

LOL, that's a great line for the GF/wife when the pictures come up... "Well I was just trying to support Pelican....";)

I could click on a Google ad. Or I could buy thousands of bucks worth of stuff from Pelican and block the Google ads. I hope Wayne doesn't mind I chose the latter.

that too, but ... how do you block them, they are not pop-ups

I'm curious

RallyJon 09-08-2005 06:31 AM

You add lines to your hosts file, so when a web page tries to push an annoying banner ad from a known ad-spammer to your browser, your browser looks at the localhost (127.0.0.1) for the ad instead of to the ad-spammer's host. This prevents the ad from loading, since obviously the ad isn't to be found at 127.0.0.1.

In my earlier post, I listed the names of (some) Google ad servers.

Here's a link that explains it better: http://accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html

This works brilliantly. Think of it as a pop-up blocker for banner ads.
