Discounting the $2.7 billion (as liberal NYT called a "boondoggle") set aside by Bush...

By 1998, Louisiana's state government had a $2 billion construction budget, but less than one tenth of one percent of that -- $1.98 million -- was dedicated to levee improvements in the New Orleans area. State appropriators were able to find $22 million that year to renovate a new home for the Louisiana Supreme Court and $35 million for one phase of an expansion to the New Orleans convention center.
All due respect, this amounts to at least 98% (2% to feds only because of miscommunication and jurisdictional constraints) of blame accrued to the Democrat party and their inaction resulting in catastrophic negligence.

Weeping Jesus, there 8 threads on this topic and in each one both sides of the argument are able to produce articles, quotes, laws and freakin' scripture to support their particular spin.

We (the board) have nothing to gain by these arguments other than venting our spleens and we can't come to a consensus on anything . Is it any wonder that the vested interests like the politicians and power brokers can't pull together?

Man sometimes I just weep for the future.

You are looking at it backwards...As per usual the Democrats began throwing mud, with intent to sew dissent, the media gave them a platform and pushed their agenda, and then we the people fight about what the Democrats and their media buddies fed us, as per usual.

Here you see the byproduct of the leftist brass and media thought, and the response by those who disagree and have sought out the other side...As is obvious the blame game was un-responded to by Republican leadership who did not point the finger, on the contrary, just stepped up and acted.

Leftists.

They're everywhere. They've traveled back in time to request FEMA assistance days before the hurricane. They've broken in to the DHS web site and altered the Emergency Repsonse Plan text to state that 'that the federal government may take a "proactive" response to a catastrophe and bypass state requests for aid.'

They've hacked the whitehouse web site to create a statement that FEMA was authorized to act on the emergency on August 26th.

Darn those time-travelling liberals!
