A little comparison

The link is to a painting by Fredrick Mulhaupt....it just sold at Juilas Auctions for 69K....http://julia.hanovercomputer.com/americana/samo05/Catalog/images/27169.jpg

Now here is a painting I own...check the colour pallet, style of brush strokes and even composition...how he does clouds....etc...BTW...I only paid $500 for this painting on E-bay....

Tell me if U think they are by the same artist?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1126250515.jpg

I take it it is not signed on the front or back and the strokes are the same?...also, does it look aged or new?

The painting is of the same vintage (circa 1910) as when Mulhaupt was working...the canvas was relined...which indicates that someone thought it was valuable...also the painting is signed...but obscurely...MulMA???? Mulhaupt had a very distincitive signature that was consistant in every painting that I have seen of his...

Except for the signature this is a dead ringer for Mulhaupt....and the signature is not that far off....

Look for age of nails, canvas should be an aged brownish. The artist was from New York, so one would expect that your painting would be dealing with that subject (possibly not)...However, my MA was knocking this off awhile back, so it could be one of hers (jk).

BTW, both images are of poor quality so hard to assess further (I am no pro, to be clear).

Los Angeles has an appraisal clinic, Tuesdays, on Sunset, at Butterfields (7601 E. Sunset Blvd.)

One thing I have to tell U Mulholl I collect art. and know alot of the picker/dealers in LA....and some of them have seen it...

This is a very good painting, painted at the turn of the last century...my guess is that it is a Mulhaupt.....just from the Colour palllet alone...the brush strokes and style are all Mulhaupt...even the signature reads Mul...NA..???..the only thing it doesn't have is the distinctive signature that is USUALLY seen....This could have been done when he was still living in NYC....before he went to Cape Ann....

These are the alignment eccentrics from the passenger-side rear of my car. They appear to be original to the car, but with slight mods to them to get more negative camber, which means someone really liked tracking the car. I paid $20 for the set at the local junkyard, but to get them from one of the Pomona parts whores or the deal would probably set me back $100 or so. This is a very good mod, allowing for almost 4 degrees of negative. They have the small amount of wear which is usually seen, and the nuts have been replaced with Nylocs.

Wide are U trying to make a point?

I would truly have expected this kind of play from one of the Redneck conseratives on this Board and not from one of the supposedly sophisticated Liberals....

Boy, the palette is similar... except fo the sky. That looks more like Maxfield Parrish's coloration...
