There's a movie on TCM tonight that all Pinkos should watch...

The Fountainhead.

Looks like 9:15PM PDT. Pretty late for the Eastern crowd, but there's always the option to tape it.

OK, but what does "pinko" itself reference? Better way to put it, from what was it derived?

The red communists. Pink refers to a soft support of communism.

OK, thanks Skip. You guys do realize that we are funding the war in Iraq by borrowing $200B and $2B every day from Communist China, don't you?

bush has subjugated this Country to Communist China, our bankers.

I'll let you sort through the socio-economic and political ramifications of being so far in debt to Communists.

Pinko indeed. It's one thing to sympathize with communists, it's another to make them your master.

I've read it and "Atlas Shrugged". It almost worked but Reagan was President at the time.

OK, Shaun, that's enough fun for you for one day.

I know I don't need to explain to you the fungibility of dollars, and how this great nation's entitlement programs are funded through a combination of a progressive tax system that conscripts wealth disproportinately despite equal distribution of the political franchise, and the sale of US Treasury securities, which are auctioned by the fed on the global market, and may be purchased by whatever nation, having a surplus of capital, desires to invest in the most secure bond in human financial history, the one backed by the taxing power of the good old USA. Cuz you already know that!

It's one thing to outsource low-wage manufacturing jobs to foreign growth economies where production costs are a fraction of what they are in countries with higher standards of living, and entirely another to regurgitate the tired ideology of the leftist totalitarian state wherever and whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I never saw the movie "Fountainhead," but I have read the book, and the one that came after it, many, many times.

Hows about some of you open-minded Lib's bypass the self-help and glossy political potboiler section at your local Barnes and Noble this weekend, and cruise on up to the Literature section, where, under the name Ayn (rhymes with "Mine") Rand you'll discover what Rand herself called "art recreating reality according to the artist's metaphysical value judgments." WE read Nietzsche, you can read Rand.

Atlas Shrugged, one of the best books ever written. I read it every few years just to keep it fresh in my feeble mind...

I read Atlas Shrugged at age 15. Blew me away and forever changed my life. Been arguing with friends ever since.

Can't tell you how many childhood friends have come back years later and admitted I was right.

I bought a hardback for my modest library, I liked it so much.

Ayn Rand was self-described as "the loneliest woman in the world" even after marrying the man with whom she died - take her ideas to heart and you'll be lonely too.

My uncle, a missionary in Africa for 50 years, gave me the lowdown on that objectivism bs.. wish he was still around.

One of my best friends (to this day) gave me a copy just after college and it totally and forever changed my life as well.

Wish I could have met the author before she headed West on her final journey.

Shawn, might need what you have. You know my email, drop me a note and let me know what all you have for a Sprite.
