Looking for a new racing game

Finally got around to buying a new steering wheel for the PC - went with the Logitech Momo. Replaced my old Thrustmaster Digi Pro which finally crapped out.

Still love playing NFS Porsche Unleased but am interested in the latest and greatest PC auto racing game.

Whats out there?

Gran Turismo 4 is one of my favorite newer racing games. I don't have anything more recent. I have to agree about NFS PU. That game is awesome. It's a shame that they didn't put any SCs or 3.2 cars.

I like the damage graphics on NFS PU. For some reason I find it pleasing to get a 911, 914, 356, or Boxster and slowly destroy it. Muhuaaaaa!!! Before my old computer crashed I had bought at least 100 Porsches and put them in my garage. Must....resist....temptation....to...play....NFS.. .PU

What MikeCT said, FIA GTR. I played the old free mod version (had to have F12002 and then patched it to be different cars and tracks and physics) I think the new version is stand alone. I haven't played the new version, but the old version was very, very good. Full telemetry of everything you could imagine, great physics, great graphics...

for PC i recently got F1 Challenege 99-02 and it is very good. with a good computer it is amazinly realistic. I too have beaten NFS PU around 50 times and needed something else to have a new challenge. only problem is that it's out of print and i had to get mine for $70 on ebay from russia! i'm also considering getting a PS2 for GT4.....probably not a bad idea....even just for one game.

GTR FIA Racing is incredible, but the learning curve is steep. At Barcelona, I was turning 1:46 laps regularly with the GT3, and when I turned off ABS, I found 1:48s were hard to achieve. More practice needed.

The AI is very challenging. You can set the aggression level of the computer. They aren't afraid to bang fenders with you.

BTW, GTR is more of a simulation than arcade game.

Do you think the new F1 Challenge will only have 6 cars for USGP?

Thanks guys - just ordered FIA GT Racing - took advantage of Amazon's credit card offer with free shipping and will receive the game for $ 7.99. Not a bad deal.

GTR is amazing but you need to commit a lot to it to get good. Like a lot I mean there is no point playing for less than an hour, because it is so realistic you have to do 3-4 laps just to get your car warmed up to feel any differences in setup you have made. GT Legends from the same crew looks even better.

I was turned on to Live for Speed by a fellow rotorhead from England. Its a great game if you are more interested in driving that anything else. There are no brands and you do not waste time tricking out your car. Its all about driving and setup.

http://www.liveforspeed.net/

Give it a look. The game was designed for online head to head competition. Its pretty fun.
