Houston Traffic Computers Down at times
I guess too many people are trying to find a way out of town.

but how would that affect the traffic computers?
Too many hits on the traffic web-sites, not enough bandwidth
gotcha! that would explain it. we're hoping for the best for ya. we have some friends in the Houston - Clear Lake area. hopefully things won't be too bad
Yeah I've been on that site all day. Planning on evacuating tomorrow AM. traffic looks like it's gonna be a b1tch!!
Clear Lake is in Zone #2 (Cat 3). They are evacuating Galveston right now, Zone #1 (Cat 1 or 2). The are actually going to mandatory evacuate right up to the outskirts of the city center, on the south side, up around the ship channel.
But, we actually have a plan. And they are executing it. And we have 4-5 times the population of NO. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127351912.jpg We live where the big red dot is, on the north west side of Houston. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127351928.jpg At this point, the local authorities would prefer us to stay where we are, so the people who really need to get out can get out. |
Cain't drive wif no ' puters.
Wadda we do? Shouldn't have to ask..... |
I saw that they want everyone to stay put so we can get out easier. But ****fire! They are saying that Austin and San Antonio should expect tropical storm force winds. That means you will easily still be seeing (in my estimate) Cat 2 force winds. I wouldn't wanna see those from inside a house.
not sure what you meant by that, but tropical storm sustained winds only go to 73 mph and cat 2 sustained winds begin at 96 mph. in any event, still pretty breezy up there. hope everything works out well for you guys. just don't run out of gas while stuck on 45 ;)
Ronin, Austin and San Antonio are a couple of hours inland from Red-beard's location. His area is what I was referring to about the Cat 2 winds. He still may see them, but based on the changes, it shouldn't be that bad now.
gotcha (btw: I used to live just outside of Austin for many years)
did you get out? we have friends in the area (Clear Lake) that spent eight hours on 45 yesterday getting absolutely nowhere. they decided to go back home and try to weather it out there. it sucks but it's better than sitting in traffic when the storm hits. we'll be biting our nails for all of you |
Just got off the freeway (I45) a few hours ago...computers are working fine now. Question --- does the last one leaving town still turn off the lights or power down the computers?
naah, Rita'll take care of that :p
